Question on making the V-plate

I use a very poor modification of Bruce's clamps ( 4 holes all up) with some weather strip. The first time I used it I "lost" one clamp in transit so relied on 3 clamps and had people climbing all over the subs. Not having a support leg in the middle of the V 1/2 inch ply V plate I put a W8 wedge on top and in the middle of the V plate to discourage people.

Worked well with cheap ply and only 3 clamps .......
