Re: (My) First TRT
Thanks guys for your compliments...
Today I made the bottom 'window', attached the driver's flange, made the Speakon hole and completed gluing the horn panels:

Next, painting the horn mouth and then closing the top panel.

Re: (My) First TRT
Yesterday was dedicated to family duties...
This morning I managed to:
Get the main assembly ready for closing:

Paint the Horn mouth:

…and attach the top panel:

Next: trim the corners and get the cab carpeted.

Re: (My) First TRT
How do you mount the driver on that? From the inside or outside. If inside, how do you get to it?
Re: (My) First TRT
The driver is mounted from the outside. The mounting flange is recessed to accept outer diameter of the driver's flange. How do you mount the driver on that? From the inside or outside...

Re: (My) First TRT
This build looks nice! Must be a relief to be able to skip bracing...
Re: (My) First TRT
Might want to order one of those driver grills from Partsexpress to protect it. Nice sub btw.

Re: (My) First TRT
Interesting design and I'm liking the limited number of braces. Super easy to replace the driver, too.
Also, you can finally prove to people that it is ONLY an 8 inch driver.

Re: (My) First TRT
Very nice. I'm digging the clamping scheme. 40 clamps AND two large sections of box steel. Great idea for spreading the clamping force out over all those internal panels.
Carpeting is so nice; I can't do it to save my life, but not having to fill any scratches or gouges, just round the edges is awesome. I'd have saved alamost a week of time on my T48 build.

Re: (My) First TRT
Yes, definitely easy and straight forward with no braces and also no access panel...osse wrote:This build looks nice! Must be a relief to be able to skip bracing...
(The wider 10" version needs braces though)
Not my first choice but the client needs the cab to withstand intense ware and tare as it will reside on the floor of a small cargo van, with stuff piled on it regularly.miked wrote:Carpeting is so nice...
That, and for the auto audio guys that need to see a known name/tag and some driver excursion...bassmonster wrote:Also, you can finally prove to people that it is ONLY an 8 inch driver

Re: (My) First TRT
I prepared a long reach paint brush…

Painted the Deep Black…

Also painted the driver's seat…

While paint was drying I prepared a make-shift dust collector for my router:

All the corners are rounded (and the shop remained CLEAN!)
Cut the parts for the floor spacers:

A stack of the 4 Trios glued:

The spacers ready for paint:

They will be placed like so: (this is down-side-up of coarse…)

Painted, and checking the location of the Velcro stripes:

The Velcro will go on both sides of the spacers, Clinging to the car's floor carpet on the bottom and to the TRT's carpet on the top.
Next, carpeting.

I just love it when Nimrod's got a project on !!

Re: (My) First TRT
I really like the spacers! What a great idea, and they look good too. Your router dust collector is pretty smart. I usually just let the dust fly everywhere and vacuum it up when I'm done. That might also be why I can never seem to get my garage completely clean.
Looking forward to seeing the final product!
