How are your current builds going?
I live in a shared house in town, how do you think? Bollocks, can't even get decent glue in this country!!

Well just got some on ebay for £20 for a 10 oz tube.. oh well it'll do for small cabs. Don't fancy hifibobbing my way at that price though!
I feel sorry for you guys that have a hard time finding things. I just saw a new PL Premium at the hardware store that is quick setting where it has 90% strength after a few minutes. You could put together a complicated cab in a few hours with it. One $2 more per tube.

TimpBizkit wrote:I accidentally clicked on the 5 minute stuff. Does that compromise the strength in any way (less time to seep into the wood pores and form a bond)?
BTW thanks for all your help I will be using Toolstation for all my future builds! I got one tube of the US expensive stuff to compare as I bought it before I found out about Toolstation
This was your post on the BFM Facebook page on the 16th...
Whoops! Accidentally bought the 5 minute stuff. Cancelling..
Is your reading comprehension really that bad? I posted up in here and on there about the 30 minute stuff. I even provided a product code to order it with so you wouldn't have to trawl through the website and you still manage to order the 5 minute stuff? Come on man.
The 5 minute stuff is workable but I'd never use it on subs as the time to put the huge panels in the right place and screw them in is a time when you don't want to be rushed. It seems to bond well and is certainly strong but I'm unsure as to whether it's as strong as the 30minute stuff.

Nope, either the page jumped or I was just in a hurry to buy - got no room for subs at the moment, just building tops!
Tim,
If space is limited. Why don't you look into a small reflex for sub? Start with a 12 inch true sub driver like the
BMS 12s330 and start do some sims in winisd. Should do solid 40, flat to 45 in a 35-45l box.

Man, I never knew anyone responded, I never got a subscription email! Hm..Maybe Gmail is redirecting them. Here's what I had put together. It's just the M30 bookshelf speakers connected to the Creative Labs PC Sub/amp.

I just go straight to the forum, everyday. Also, it does not clutter up my email inbox.

It was going to spam for some reason. But I use thunderbirdfor my client and keep folders for AVS, BFM, Netflix (for disc status), and any other regular emails I get where having them filtered helps me see them

I was thinking about something like that with a 3012lf, and if either driver is suitable for a Tuba 45 it can be upgraded later!
(or a 3015lf eventually in a Titan 48)
The 3012lf might work fine in Bills horns but it is in no way a true subwoofer driver and i don't think it will perform well in a small ported box. I think the smallest thing with decent performance for the 3012 would be a cubo 12.
Or maybe the BMS can be used for a T45 later.

do note, hornresp shows a drop in lf corner when corner loaded. this does not happen with anything but front loaded horns (tapped horns with small mouths included). The lab 15 works well in small ported enclosures. low sensitivity, but decent power handling. it will take almost 80 volts before reaching xmax in passband and extend to 30 to 35hz (do about 123 to 125 continuous output, and be flat)

Yes the lab15 has a heavier cone, makinh it more suitable for low frequency production (sub 50 hz) in a reflex design. It is limited to 60volts in the t60 because of extremely high excursion below horn cutoff, also, you cannot hear distortion in the t60, meaning a peak limiter is imperative for woofer protection.
Check impedance charts to compare shifting of box tuning between 2 pi and .5 pi graphs

I almost never come to this forum, so I'm seeing this for the first time. That is so badass, it hurts. Scrapping any internal electronics, this would be a complete DJ setup for about 100 people. You could power it off one, strong amp with a built-in crossover. You would literally have two, maybe three things to wheel into the gig. Thanks for sharing your creation, Ian!
Ian Westwood wrote:When I first got into BFM stuff I came up with this... then I realized it would be almost impossible to transport!!
I have calmed down a bit since then and it has never made it off the drawing board.
This is based on SLA with a blatantly refolded T30. Hope you don't mind me posting it Bill
The horn is not mathematically perfect but pretty close - it differs most at the final flare and path length is about 12 inches shorter (depending on how you measure it) IIRC.
The SLA parts are spot on volume wise.
I tried to figure out an SLA Pro version but couldn't get enough volume for the enclosure.
The voids were intended for electronics / batteries or what ever.
