Zvipster - go buy a ruler/tape measure with inches on one side and cm on the other - will make your life way easier. If you cant find one, 1" is 2.54cm.

So to convert e.g 3" 5/8 you just enter the following on your calculator: 2.54 / 8 * 5 + 3 * 2,54 and you get: 9,2075 - round it off to 9.21cm and you're good to go

Well, some parts may be quite a bit too short. a 20" panel is almost 1cm short when you use 2,5 instead of 2,54. So thats not so good.. If its just the width you've cut, its fine - as long as all the panels have the same width. Just mind the lenght of the panels..

Well, it will impact the performance of the cab for sure, 1.6 cm off on both dimensions is quite a bit.. What would I do in your situation?

I would cut panel 12 and 13 1" wider than all the other panels and mount those 2 panels on the outside of the sides instead of between the sides - that ways you gain 1.2cm of the 1.6cm you lost cutting the sides too small..

Does this make sense to you?

OR! Do it with patience and enlarge the panels per the plans - but that takes time and is a bit troublesome..

I have those panels cut too, so they are not large enough either.

I have those panels cut too, so they are not large enough either.
I can't really fix this, all I really can do is make everything with 2,5cm I guess.

Can't say how much that will affect the output of the cab..

Just buy a new piece of MDF, or find a small of-cut piece at your DIY store/lumberyard.

I went with radiata ply, so a new heart is 55$.
The good news is with Michaels genius plan I can actually manage to make it the proper dimensions.

I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes now but here's my 0,02

The horn will be a little off spec but not so far off it won't work anymore. we're talking a little over one percent smaller, I find it hard to believe you'll be able to distinguish any difference. try finding two transducers within one percent deviation, with luck you'll find them in some esoteric make, costing zillions!

you'll be fine using 2,5cm for 1inch.

Actually I think the 0.04 per 2.5 cm will not make enough of a difference to start over. It is well within the tolerances that Bill usually states. Better do it right next time, but since there are quite some parts already cut, I would just go with that and have a sub that is 1.5% smaller than planned. You are not going to notice the difference.


For future builds: I find the plans are easy in imperial and a pain when converted to metric. Buy a ruler and tape measure that also have inches and just build everything in inches from now on. Saves a lot of cumbersome conversion and far easier on the brain after the initial hurdle of giving up our trusty old metric cms. My two cents, pennies, or whatever small change you prefer

I will be building it to te correct dimensions, I only have to redo two sheets of ply, an it should work again.
I recalculated all my sheets and I am able to cut them to the new numbers, when you see te pictures after it is built you will be able to see what I did.

But A question to Bill: would it work if it where converted using 2.5 instead of 2.54?
