That sounds like a very good deal. Hopefully it is a quality setup. Please keep us updated on the performance.

It's crap compared to Festool and Makita. I was in the Machinery House store last week and looked at one. Cheap chinese rubbish with German name...the $350 is the giveaway - "ya gets what ya pays for"

They guys said at the store; "definitely not for industrial use, strictly home use"

Mmmm. Time will tell. Can't be any worse than my table saw. I have a couple of T60's to build so I'll have a fair idea how good or bad it is in the next couple of weeks. I have been thinking I might get the Festool as well just so I can compare..... or drive to vegas and catch up with 67baja to compare with his!

True. Everybody can't afford Festool or Makita. My concern with the DIY crowd is will it be "acceptably" reliable. I know Harbor Freight stocks a lot of junk but I've used my HF table saw and DC for hundreds of hours without a hiccup. As a builder this track saw looks like it would be a good standby option and for someone just building a few cabs it might be ideal. I haven't held one in my hands so my opinion doesn't count for much here. Looking forward to Ian's assesement after he's used it a few times.

Ian Westwood wrote:News just in. Grizzly now have the T10687 Track Saw in stock.

I just ordered the saw, accessory pack, extra blade and additional 55 inch guide rail (comes with 2x 25 inch).

Grand total was $274.80 and I was able to use my own shipping :noob:
Soooooooooo. Off to a disappointing start with the Grizzly track saw. It arrived but hasn't made it into the workshop yet.

From the time I ordered it, to the time I received it, the Grizzly website changed the description from "Saw with 2x 25 inch guide rails included" to "...saw only. Please see T24872 for the Guide Rail"... which is still (kind of) cool, considering the cost. But no dice for ripping 8 x 4 sheets without a couple of extras.

It turns out the "accessory pack", which was out of stock when I placed the order, is necessary to hold the saw to the track!

This renders the whole thing useless because the saw rocks sideways, left and right over the track. You'd never get a 90 degree cut with the parts I received.

When I called to place the order, half the links related to the saw were dead and I spent a lot of time with the sales dude trying to figure out what was available and what was needed... this is an eff up on Grizzly's part.

So, kind of a fail so far. And I'm sure this will be all fixed by the time you might want to place an order. But I'll call Grizzly tomorrow to see what I can sort out....... watch this space.

TL;DR Right now I have a Saw and a 55 inch rail. But I need the accessory pack to make it work. If I want to cut 8 x 4 sheets I need to order a total of 2x 55 inch rails.

In other news, I'm looking at possibly of becoming a Festool Dealer. Just gauging interest with you guys here:

To kick start my account I need to spend a heap in one go. So if anyone is interested in jumping in on my first order I can hook you up with a great deal on anything in the Festool range.

Interested? Mail me for more information. ian@speakeressentials.com.

If you do 230V, then yes.

I'm strongly considering the parallel guide set still. $325 just seems like a lot of money...

I'll be in Vegas between 8th and 11th April. If you do decide to go for it we can meet up to save postage.

But they may limit you to 110V to protect their overseas distributors.

More than likely. I'm waiting for the terms to arrive and from there I can figure out what I can do for you!

I would have thought the shipping would kill any advantage though... unless you are passing by on a holiday!

I'll get you to ship it to Atlanta - I'm there for business early May. If the worse comes to the worse, I could do 110V as I have a grunty 230/110V transformer that will cope - just a nuisance having to use it that's all.

Sounds like a plan. I just need 3 others to jump on and I can open the account!

Okay, Ian, here is your chance. I understand you need to purchase an inventory of Festool. So, sell me on more Festool stuff! I have a track saw, 3 tracks (24"(?), 55", and 100"(?)), and the smallest dust extractor. What else does Festool make that would be good for speaker building? My garage has several sanders already (Bosch and Dewalt), a killer Bosch 12" sliding miter saw, a crappy Craftsman table saw that I NEVER use, and more. I feel buying quality tools is NOT money wasted and I happen to have a maintenance company, so I can write off tools. The Festool Multi-Function table looked nice when I was checking it out before but seem to remember it being quite expensive (like all Festool, I suppose). Buy once, cry once I guess. Or twice, or thrice!
