I don't even play an instrument and I can appreciate the work on that. Damn. It's gorgeous.

Thanks. Yes, he makes beautiful instruments, and they are not just showpieces. Sound good, a joy to play, and balance well on a strap. And Alan is just a great guy.

(I did not get the green with envy initially, probably to do with not being a native speaker)

I am also excited for you Anton. It's a lovely thing, what you're doing!

Was just wondering, as well as photos, your GT-R1 would do a lovely DI style recording, ...but in true FB style, I'd have to go get the headphones, plug them in and press play. Damn, I'm not sure about it now.

You can play along to songs on the GT-R1, it can actually even record into an "overdub". That allows you to build up a mix, track by track. Think multi-track for dummies.

You fit right in at the FB forums

Work on my new bass has now started.

The two pieces of book matched quilted maple have been glued together, then on to a piece of alder. The rough body shape has been cut, edges and control cavity routed. Next up is probably more carving. I am looking forward to see what it is going to look like when more carving on the body has been done. Especially on the top left corner the underlying slightly darker alder will show through the lighter quilt maple. I think I will like that, seeing the different layers appear after the body carving.

The neck is taking shape. It starts to look like a bass now.

Pickup cavities are routed and the neck has been installed.

You sure you don't want to make an additional stop in Scotland on your way home, Harley?

Is Harley coming to your place next?

We just travelled through Dumfries today, but it would be the knock on carriage, ...if it didnt go missing in the post, wink, wink.

Yes, I love where this is going. The curiosity and anticipation are killing me. And I like it :cowboy:
I will keep you guys posted Vtype, no problem.

Charles, you do keep your hands off my bass when it goes in the post :cop:

Bloody Hell Vtype, that's some stash of bikes you've got there. Is it like people who ream off all the instruments they can play, and then add "but not all at the same time"?

Anton, I think you will find that the anticipation is better than the realisation. I think we have stumbled onto something; tantric bass guitar building?

All in jest, and no i won't tell him. Wouldn't want him enjoying it too much.

Anton: Good man, keep 'em coming! :hyper:

Charles: yeah the bike thing has got a bit daft of late as I recently aquired a Kawasaki GT750 although that was a gift from a friend. It's funny cuz years ago, it used to be millions of basses and a back catalogue of everything Trace Elliot ever made and no bikes but now its just the big Ashton rig, a Trace Twin Valve and my Warwick Streamer LX5 but 5 bikes (or six if you include the Mrs' Bandit!)

All god tho!

It has been a while, but progress is well underway. All woodwork done, the bass is now into finishing.
Does that make the quilt jump out at you all of a sudden or what :cowboy:
