I, for one, have been following your threads. The REALLY interesting thing for me is the fact that you built your "whole" system (okay, t's were there IIRC), then ran out and broke it in right away, as opposed to building one design, running that, then adding on another design, which I think most of us do.

Threads, and particularly reviews like this only further my desire to build DR's, which I don't need, but I'd love to hear. Of course, that just means a set of T39's (more than likely) and more processing equipment. But, in order to hear them, I'd have to build them.

I've got to think others are motivated by this as well!

Spuds are a slang name for potatoes.
The festival had a theme. Farming. I'm told 2012 is the international Year of the Farmer. Being a farmer as well, you'd have thought I knew that lol.
In the last growing season here (this one is just kicking in, hence "Blossom" festival) a bad hail storm wiped out large chunks of many producers potential yields. The storm lasted all of 12 minutes. Some producers lost 90% of their crop that day, and some years of reduced yields due to tree damage.

Good grief, in one day lmao??? Actually all I was doing was sucking furiously on that smoke. I know, I know, it's 2012 and I should know better, but you have to have some vices!
There's a lot of investment in that belly. I obviously haven't been working hard enough lately.
I'd be shot by the missus if I grew a beard/goatee/whatever.

My plan was always to build 2 x T39's and the DR250's straight up. It was being asked to join the committee this year to sort out entertainment and PA for the festival that became the motivation to do more, ie 2 more T39's (since it was outdoors and my first 2 were BP loaded) and the WH8's (thought the WH8's were in the equation at some stage, just got pushed forward) and do the PA part myself. Apart from testing in the garage, none of the BFM gear had seen a gig before Saturday. It just made sense to build it all and use it, first time out...
As I've said, money was tight. It made no sense at all to buy either cheap or expensive brand name cabs while trying to do builds as well. There was no way I could get the same quality system without paying full retail, (less, say, 10% or there abouts discount with bargaining) unless I DIY'd. Patience/waiting (that is so not me) for the right moment and judicious bidding and searching (and a bit of luck in some cases) meant I saved more on electronics, mikes, multicores, XLR's, 1/4" jacks, speakons, rolls of mike cable, etc as well. It's not all top of the line gear, much of it is "somewhere in the middle", but quite functional.
The bonus: I'll even get paid!

The DR250's in particular are astounding, much more OMG than the first 2 T39's, but the lot together was OMFG!
If you have to know, get building...

It was most certainly new 2 me then. Certainly can't say I've learnt it all though, just enough to not get into too much trouble!
Humbling to be thought of as inspirational, but it's a good thing to inspire others to get out and do it as well!
