Next time I record anything with sound as a priority, I need to use my Zoom H1. The onboard mic of this HC-X900 doesn't capture the low or high end as well as I'd hoped. I also found that it will clip around 118db in the mid-range.

Here are a couple more. I have a couple videos of whole songs with the camera sitting on a table. I can upload those too if there is a demand for them, just let me know!

For this one, I turned off the automatic gain control on the camera. SPL on the balcony was around 90-95dbc, audibly dropping a few as I walk farther away, and you can even hear the sound get occluded after I turn around and let a tree drift between us. As always, watch in at least 720P for optimal sound quality.


Second one shows some SPL measurements 10-15 feet from the speakers. The tops are definitely held back by the 2xT39s, I'm not sure by how much.

Bruce, "what I got to know is......." do you think the 3k range is a little strong? I read on this forum that western hat cut around that freq.

How would I know? I can't hear anything over 2k anyway.


The high end is pretty hot on the recording - didn't quite sound like that, but the clarity was there.

Every time I hear them I just can't get over how clear these speakers sound... I mean I have a set of OT12s myself but still every time I play them I'm impressed by them.

I've never heard a better vocal box. Like you, every time I hear 'em I'm amazed. And every time I have to run sound for the band I work with that has some old 15/horns boxes..... I just think of what could be.
