Despite the connotations associated with the name, it is indeed an excellent rum.

The name according to wikipedia is derived from Sir John Gay Alleyne, 1st Baronet of Four Hill, a political figure from the 1700's, who also managed the distilleries.

YUP! That's my go-to backup when I run out of One Barrel and can't source more quickly. It's very good, especially for the price, but it's not quite as clean as One Barrel, in my opinion.

I have been infuzing vodka/rum with local fruits the last couple years and making some liqouers from a recipe book I got. So far rhubarb rum rocks, especially with coke. I am looking to still some .....water in the not to distant future.

As for store bought...my bar essentials are Sailer Jerry, Blue Ice, Jesse James, and Don Julio. But small distillery stuff is part of my favs too, Portland has agreat distillery tour.

Funny, I live here in Iowa, love good booze, and still haven't had Templeton. I may have to rectify that situation.

When my wife and I fly to her home town of Omsk, Russia we always bring back the legal limit of this vodka. Best vodka I've ever had. Friends and family beg for more. I'm mainly a beer guy but this stuff is great. The name translates to "Five Lakes."
