It just has been less of a burden for me to have my own system with my own settings, rather than come in Sat after the Fri night DJ has tinkered with eq settings or whatever on the house system.

I honestly loathe having to hear that PRX subwoofer again this Sat night. What a $1200 POS. I wouldv'e given a little credit to them had they bought another XLS4002 and used an SRX728 or something like that.
If you need help moving the rig, hit me up.

I think your audi would like that.

I'll have to swing by again sometime. Busy busy as all getout lately.

Monomer, I got it covered :) Thanks for the offer. I did it Sunday and got it out of the way. I literally live 1/2 mile down the street so it was no big deal. I am going to open up the cabs and check sealing and possibly find the next use for my rig. I was quite tempted to test dubstep and 55V in my driveway. "Just to see what it sounded like."

Dang, those look massive compared to my 24" T48s.

Bryce, they are huge. I had a single 24" T48 previously...easy to move and a 24" square footprint. To me, the lower extension was worth the width. And the build was no extra work.

That JBL PRX sub sounds like crap. It sounds like it has a huge spike at 50-60Hz but has nothing below that. Not even close to the smooth low-end response of even 1 of my T48s. Oh, and the POS overheated and turned off on me twice last night. I could fry an egg on that plate amp.

I saw one of those in person this last weekend at a local Greek festival. I have to admit it sounds OK for acoustic stuff. Naturally, they were using them to pole mount the mains on either side of a stage. Because of that, I didn't realize they even had subs until I got close enough to see them, then realized that yeah.. it is kind of a lot of bass for just the mains.

Definitely no match for better subs, but I was impressed at what they could do in a box that looks to be just a hair bigger than necessary to fit the driver and amp. I can only imagine the plate has some inbuilt EQ to tame the natural response curve.

You'd think PRXs are bad. My titans replaced 2 JRX single 18s. Those shouldnt even count as subs.

One of the crews I work with have a pair of the single MRX 18's.

Power hungry and play to 55Hz clean.

Garbage.

In very few cases I would ask a DJ what he would recommend as a sound set-up anywhere.. I would rather ask my cat(if I had any..) as DJ's very rarely have a clue about anything unfortunently.

"Expert" is always a loose term, real expert help in my eyes would be if he could show a good 10-20+ clubs he's installed sound in and everyone have solid sound in them.. so yes you're right but I would probably not dare to rely on you if I were a club owner/manager.. or the situation would ofc be different if he's heard your equipment in his bar?
I disagree, some of us DJ's on this forum have learned enough around here to know what to expect from sound and how to deal with certain situations that some so called sound engineers don't.
