What about Donny's idea of 2 speaker stands (per side) with flat board attached with 2 top hats and eye bolts to anchor everything down?

I think i like the idea of the scaffolding from lowes since the base needs to be wider,4 ft wide should do,the problem is it's only 4 ft high and Bill said they need to be at least 5 ft high.I'm going to go look at the scaffold at Lowes or HD today and do some measuring. Thanks fella's.

I didnt see Donny's idea, that would be even cheaper since i already have 4 speaker poles.Donny's idea may work better for my future 4 DR 200 build.

Someone on the forum is already doing that and explained how he set it up - I just can't remember who.....

One of the Brits. Chris Allen a likely suspect.

IIRC,
Donny's idea:
"outside" stand has 1 leg facing left, 1 leg facing back, 1 leg facing forward. Stand 2 mirror image.
"Flat board" is 2 pieces of 1/2" ply with 1/2" ply cut up to frame and brace. PL and screw all together. Finish in duratex or similar.
Inset 2 top hats into flat board at appropriate distance, allowing for cab size. Add 2 eye bolts to "flat board" to hold tie down straps.
The weight of the cab(s) holds the top hats on the stands.

If you got adventurous, you could build an angle into the top piece of ply on the flat board. With a stopper to stop the cab sliding forward...

Gdougherty had a great design. There was a link to a pic but I'm not sure if it is still up.
http://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewt ... es#p181398

In a nutshell two stands per side, a 4x4 platform with top hats installed on it sits on the 2 stands. The speakers sit on the platform.
I wish I would have saved the pic it was pretty neat.

Not trying to highjack but I too am looking for a way to have 2 DR250's per side. One melded one straight array. And I am at a loss as to make them safe. I am halfway through the build process now.

My apologies,
Seems the original design belonged to gdougherty...

1/4" plywood top and bottom and 1" framing with 1 x 6" where the tophats go...

Read the info on the link in the quote below. Hint-scroll, in that link, up to where gdougherty has a post on the description.

I bought 1 of the scaffolds today,it's not bad although its only 4 feet tall.I would still like to raise it up to 5 feet somehow,i may build a 3 foot wide box to use as a platform.Once i figure out how i will secure everything i will buy the other one. This is ALOT safer and sturdier than the stands,i will use the stands with the DR 200's when i build them.
