Re: Beginning Bass
Thanks for everybody's input.
I've finally decided on, and bought a bass. Found an Ibanez 405 - 5 string - over on Talkbass. Bass - $225, perfect fit Ibanez Hardcase - $40, shipping $30. Should be here any day.
Also bought 2 books off Amazon - "Bass Guitar For Dummies" and "Hal Leonard Bass Method - Complete Edition: Books 1, 2 and 3 Bound Together in One Easy-to-Use Volume!"Hopefully, starting off by learning proper technique will mean more success in the long run.
I'm going to turn the bass amp I have in the garage (Not a Randall, it's an Alamo Fury 2566 tube amp) into a head to sit on top of a Jack 12. Parts on the way from Leland. Books should be here Thurs., parts from Leland have already shipped, and the bass should be here any day!
Can't wait!
Thanks again for all the input.

Re: Beginning Bass
Dale,,
Good on you!
My son used Bass for dummies and found it very helpful.
He started from scratch though.
At least you have all your theory from keys behind you.
Unlike many adept muso's I have played with over the years, my son(s) never did understand the importance of being able to change key on the fly. Both preferred to "learn" by downloading tabs.
What would their old man know huh lol.
Anyway, enjoy your next musical journey

Good choice on books.
A real/fake book in bass clef should be added to your bookshelf soon. Play or year outta that book!
