The thing I can't stand about modern life is all the convenient opportunities it presents to mindlessly dribble your money away a few bucks at a time.

At the very bottom of the page he has a Tang Band 6" folded tapped horn in 3/4" MDF. I've had the driver since neo was cheap, so I'm making a powered sub for either an office system or computer speakers -- haven't decided yet.

This is my first real speaker enclosure, not counting some horrid attempts with a hand saw back in high school. I just bought a table saw and router -- never used either before this. It's amazing how well things turn out with good tools!

The plans for the BFM stuff are dead easy looking. Next stop is a pair or two of SLA Pros, then a pair of T30s. This one's first because I'm not as concerned with whether it turns out well or not, and I had the speaker already.

Interesting looking horns SirNickity. The 15" horn is pretty big. And about the pics on the webpage, the poster must be an "oddiophile", look at those orange straight horns haha.

Could be, but it seems to me he's more or less down-to-earth. I think he just likes esoteric projects. And horns. I think the orange really ties the room together. But yeah, the TV is kinda ridiculous.

I'm about three days away from having the enclosure finished. Gluing one, maybe two, panels at a time. I've learned quite a bit about how not to assemble a cabinet. I put the inside pieces together before attaching to the sides, which is exactly opposite the way Bill recommends. I can say with confidence Bill's way is better! (I ran out of wood before I had them all cut, so I assembled the parts I had at the time.) Also, working with MDF kinda sucks.

That pic makes clear the very basic fly in the ointment: the lower you go the larger the cab must be. When the mains are larger than the subs there's no way things will work out right. Big mains require even bigger subs.
That's not to say that one can't use a 6.5 inch driver in a horn and have it give a good result. But it will have to be a very large horn. IMO smaller than an eight doesn't work well enough to bother with the complexity of a horn build.

8 year old pic. That space is currently occupied by a 60 inch.

...and the picture of Erik's "orange" horn system is going on over 4 years now. His TV also has since grown along with his taste in art.

The pic is to highlight the speakers, not the TV, and it crowds the right hand main a bit. It's atop the media center, it won't fit inside.
