This is whacking every mfg out there. Eminence raised prices for the first time in two years this January, and then they were pretty modest.

Man, I was just getting ready to buy a couple Deltalite 2512s for my Jack build. Bummer.

The options now on the Jack 12 kits on Leland's site are the DeltaPro 12a and the Beta 12a-2. I see that the Beta is cheaper. What would I be giving up if I went with the Beta over the DeltaPro? I also notice that the Beta isn't mentioned in the plans as a recommended driver.

Also, by choosing between these instead of getting the Deltalite, is the major difference here just weight?

Damn! I wish I'd just bought the stuff last week. I had kit sitting in my cart on the site and was just waiting until the end of the week to make the purchase.

The neo's will go back up later today. I can't take the hit of not changing on existing stock, which is fairly slim anyway.

Good business practice! People would be more pissed off with you going out of business ( due to inadequate margin ) than they would with fair price increases.

I wholeheartedly agree. Still, though, if I go the cheaper route now with the DeltaPros or the Betas instead of the Deltalites, what pros/cons of the DeltaPro 12a's vs. the Betas 12a II's?

+1 For me what would be the best alternative to the 3012 LF's and DL 2512's.

Thanks!

Okay, I know that we don't mix speakers - Titan 39 and Titan 48 for instance. But I thought that I read something about not mixing drivers. That I wouldn't want to stack 4 T48's where 2 of them are the 3015LF and 2 that have a different driver.

Been thinking about adding a couple of OT12s to the mix....guess I had to make up my mind today.

Just found 2- DL2512s on Amazon for $250 incl shipping. Said they only had 2 left....we'll see if I actually can get them.

Really would rather do business with Leland, but it looks like every man for himself for a while.

Yea, the bigger boys are kind of slow to react. They're going to get their butts handed to them when they reorder. I don't blame anybody for shopping.

MAP on a 3015lf is now 315.99. Nobody's going to get anywhere near that to sell, but considering it was 184.99, you can see what happened.

I lived through and helped my Dad run the hardware store through the inflationary 70's. I know how this stuff works.

As of today the T30 and T48 have been modified to use Lab 12s. The Beta 12 is an alternative to the 2512, the Delta Pro 12 an alternative to the 3012HO.

Next thing you know we will have to store our neo loaded cabs in a safe at the bank when not in use.

Currently 3012s are still available on eBay for $165 or thereabouts.

I actually just bought a used one for $85 shipped, but it's kind of fishy. It has no Eminience sticker, the surround material and the gasket material look different from my other 3012, and it has a rubber disk glued to the dust cap which, according to the seller is "supposed to be there"... Ah well, it's probably fine, and I suppose I can't complain about it given the price. It's going into a Jack 12, so none of that will show anyways. I just hope it's not an LF. There's a half pound difference between the HO and LF, so that should tell me. I'm guessing it's an OEM driver pulled out of a box. I just hope it has the same parameters as a standard 3012ho.

I remember posting something about this a while ago about the coming shortage and price increases of Chinese neodymium, and it was poo-poo'd. (not you Leland)

This subject fascinates me to no end. Born in '63 and remember the inflationary 70's very well.

First paper route in '74, older brother educates me on coinage silver content which ended in early '68 (Canada). I kept all my silver change. Also bought rolls of coin from banks to remove silver. By '74 I came to the party late, but still found 1 or 2 per roll. Still have them.

As a teenager, often did the family grocery shopping. Large family, small income, I remember getting physically sick to the stomach the constant rising of prices bothered me so much. I didn't really understand it at the time. I do now.

Late 70's, remember the housing boom, and new home prices rising, rising, 39K, 49K, 59K, 69K, 79K, then the double dip crash in '80, '81.

Interest rates, metals, hoarding newsprint, oil shocks, never mind what came later ('87 stock crash, '89 Japanese crash, which they've never recovered, currency devaluations) and on and on.

All during that time I was a television deprived  ferocious reader.

I think all that precipitated those tumultuous years are in full swing now, except on a much larger, global scale (senseless wars, fiat currencies, the IMF, military/industrial complex, oppression of many stripes). It's obvious to me we're in the midst of living history all over again. This time I feel like I'm sitting in a comfy chair re-watching an old movie, not sure if I remember the ending or not, if it ever really ends.

All of the above might seem I'm a depressed doom and gloomer, but oddly enough the opposite has happened over the years as I became a little wiser to the ruthless nature of evil and instead focused on the good all around. Finding it worth the effort.

To get back to the subject at hand, if it makes anyone feel any better  it's not just neodymium that's skyrocketing. Take a gander at the price increases for the following commodities for the last year. Hardly exotic materials:

http://finviz.com/futures_performance.ashx?v=16

(it's interesting to notice the only two things to decline in that long sorry list is a ravished economy and the US Dollar, Hhmmm)

I realize much of this is not speaker related and if it's too upsetting or not appropriate I'll happily delete it. PM me if necessary.
