If you do find it locally...
So far the closest source for guys around here is in Cleveland ( 4 - 5 hrs from here ).
Columbus would only by 3 hours.

I don't really mind paying that price. Given the amount of time it takes me to build one of these cabinets, anything I can do to make it easier is worth it. But then again, with LeBron gone, Cleveland could probably use the business.

I built our amp racks and SAC system rack out of the best ply I could find at Lowe's and Home Depot and I didn't like it early as well as BB.

Besides, if it were any cheaper, I'd be tempted to build more cabs.

The ultimate irony is that within a 20 mile radius of where I live, there are 10 or 12 lumber wholesalers selling exotica like bamboo ply, DragonPly, Appleply, Okoume, Meranti, etc, as well as your standard BB, not to mention people making hardwood ply of various kinds.

But so far only Youngbloods has the real 5'x5' sheets, and that at $48 a sheet for 1/2". :(

Siweks, I've been warned off from by a cabinet maker friend as selling seriously substandard stuff.

Rocklers, is seriously expensive stuff, and they don't sell sheets big enough for T39s.

I really want the 3/8" stuff, but nary a source in the Twin Cities I can find. I may have to live with the 1/2", which is seriously disturbing my perfectionist streak.

Does anyone have experience with the $53/sheet stuff at Menard's? It looks decent: not too many footballs, reasonably flat, no voids at the edges, 9 even sized plies. I may just take my tools over there, buy 4 or 5 sheets, and saw it up in the parking lot before security makes up stuff about why I can't.

I've used Menards ply for many cabinets. But those cabs where for a Television and dresser drawers. :D

I am not pleased with how many internal voids I have found in the sheets I have bought. (They did't effect me for my purpose though.)

I've seen too many people say that 1/2 inch Aruaco is a good choice not to take that recomendation. It's cheap and it's local. Your milage may vary.

the aruaco at menards is decent stuff. im not sure if BB is worth it for cabs unless youre going to stain/varnish them.

el ingenerio- good to see someone else in minneapolis area! you have any BFM cabs that will be gigging anytime soon?

I just had a look today while I was out pricing stuff. If you want to spend double, the $53 baltic looks good (4x8), but it's a hard sell for me when the Arauco is $25 (also 4x8).

I have a friend that lives next to a custom cabinet builder. I'll see if he can get any info for the 3/8 you are looking for or better prices on the 1/2 inch B.B. It may take a few days. I am not going to see him for a while.

I live two hours east of Minneapolis. If either of you have something going on where I can come out and see/hear your set up, please post it in the come hear them section. I'll do the same.

BB doesn't really stain well. Great for internal parts, like drawers. Not so much for faces.

BB is totally worth it for large cabs like Titans. Big, long panels where warping from Arauco would be a PITA.

WoodCraft on Bethel usually has it in stock. It is about $10 more per sheet.
