Yep, I think the front panel attenuators are just that: analogue attenuators that lower the signal before it goes into the DSP section. Not 100% sure though, my Xti is upstairs and the family is asleep at this time so I cannot check. Next time I fire it up, I will see if turning the attenuators is visible anywhere in the software.

Here's what you can do in the System Architect software (v1.90):

LP "Bandpass Gain" control set to -10dB:

If anyone is running Band Manager, please check if you get the same options? For some reason I couldn't get band manager to run on my computer.

It would be nice to just turn a control on the amp front panel to bring up the subs or tops. On the other hand, you can bring a simple laptop to the gig and adjust the settings. Connect a mic to your laptop and do RTA, adjust the Xti EQ section in System Architect. Try that with a regular power amp.

Now that you post those pics, that looks familiar. You probably can do the exact same thing with Band Manager and I just didn't recognize it at the time. Anyway, I will never have a computer available at a gig, so it's not a workable solution for me. But for those who can do that, it is indeed a possibility.

I've been thinking again about the issue you raised, Dave. What you wanted to do should be possible anyway. Crossover in DSP and controling sub and top levels through the front panel attenuators on a Crown Xti amp:

• Inputs set to stereo (as opposed to Y or Sum 1+2).
• Feed full range signal into one channel.
• Use the link-out connector on the back panel and a 1 foot XLR cable to loop the same signal through to the other channel. Both channels now get the same full range signal. The signal for each channel goes through their own front panel attenuator, then into the respective DSP section.
• Set up the cross over in DSP and presto.

Sounds like it could work. Hopefully this info will benefit some of the guys who have (or are considering) XTi amps. I started with the QSC PLX2 series, tried a couple of XTi's for a while, and now I'm back in the QSC camp with a PLX 1804.

I can't believe all this hasn't been fully figured out and done a thousand times already.
