Where I am at, there is a 30 watt Yamaha combo (which sounds terrible). What I did was put in a switching 1/4" jack in the back of it. This jack allowed the internal speaker to be used as normal, or cut out the internal speaker and gave all the power to the 1/4" cable that was then plugged in. Following this scheme, you could then go into a passive cross-over, and out from it... one into the sub, one back into the combo(another new switching 1/4" jack).

Thanks to all for the good advice. Unfortunately, I'm very leery about doing surgery on my GK amp, despite the fact that I know it would work. When I bought my first MB 150 years ago the power transformer died after three months. GK replaced it with a second unit that perished minutes after opening the box for the same reason. They agreed to replace this amp as well, but the next unit they sent was lost by the shipping company. The third replacement is the one I have now, and it's been working just fine for over 15 years. I just don't want to take the chance. It's not that I'm superstitious (we have three black cats, after all), but if it ain't broke....

I think my best bet is to keep an eye out for a used GK extension cabinet or, failing that, bite the bullet at some point and buy a new one. Like I said earlier, my little GK has served me well and I'm loathe to part with it even though I have several other amplifiers available.

Happy holidays! I'm looking forward to "ringing" in the new year with a brand new pair of Jack 110s...providing I can get them finished in time.
Two J110s built and currently pregnant with two more.
