For YachtTuba I was initially thinking of a folded horn specifically shaped to fit the bow section of a typical sailing vessel. Like how AutoTuba is folded to fit a car trunk. Your version is way more fun though

You might even get to attract whales. How's that for followers

I've thought about unfolding one of them and refolding it to fit specific spaces on boats, mostly wakeboard boats. I've had a few guys that know I'm into this stuff ask me to help them out over the years. Most ended up being just talk and a couple of them didn't like the advice and recommended direction I offered, none have actually followed through. So, I never had the actual need. When I get the sailboat, if there's room and it's even borderline reasonable/unreasonable, we'll discuss it.

I want to honor the space here, so I'm not gonna make this a regular thing. But, for those of you interested in following along as the saga of Seth progresses from dream to reality, here's the first video I've posted for my YouTube Channel, Sailing Elsie. Likes, comments, and subscriptions are not necessary, but are always appreciated. I'm committed to uploading a new video every Friday. This one is only 7 minutes long, a little chunky and clunky with the edits, and tons of room for improvement. I especially like the song at the end. I thought video editing software was going to be easy after using ProTools and Reaper. Not so. The learning curve is steep! I'm not sweating it, the quality of my productions will improve, like anything else, with time.

I'm happy to hear to any advice, thoughts, and feedback you may have to share.

Thanks guys. I'm taking the whole thing pretty seriously. I've filed my DBA/fictitious business name, attained a federal EIN, applied for my Dun & Bradstreet DUNS number (credit bureau for businesses), opened and funded a business checking account, and had business cards made. Every step I take, the dream becomes more and more reality.
A little update in the boat search; I contacted the seller that rescinded his decision to sell his 53 foot boat that I had previously thought was a solid option and he's reconsidered! He's now willing to sell again! So, we'll see how that pans out. I haven't seen the boat in person, so who knows... might not actually be the right boat. But, my tail is wagging a little. Size is right, price is right, time is right. We'll see.

Quite a looker indeed.
The shape makes me think she is not young (but neither fat nor ugly, so not exactly fitting Bruce's line of thinking ). She has the elegant lines of a classic yacht.

Age is not necessarily a problem if she is well looked after and updated. Also, some things were built with more margins back in the day. I recently read a blog from a dutch boat owner. He is sailing alone. One night he sailed straight into a buoy (it had no lights). It did serious damage to the bow of his vessel. He had to sail to the nearest port for repairs but at least he stayed afloat. His impression was that a more recent sailing vessel of the same dimensions would most likely have sunk within an hour of the collision.

Your passion to sail around the world reminds me of an expatriate New Zealander I met in Northern Alberta. He was building a 40 foot ferro-cement sail boat in his backyard. He eventually had the boat lifted out of his backyard and onto a trailer to move it to Vancouver for final fit out. Last I heard in the early 80's he'd finished the build and then, with his wife as crew, during a shakedown cruise he came close to dismasting in a strong storm. He made it back to Vancouver where his wife said, "It's me or the boat", wrong call on her part, he was last seen sailing into the sunset with two 20 year old young ladies as volunteer crew on his way back to New Zealand.

It is true that a boat can attract women. And women rarely attract boats. I'd go for the boat too.

Anton, the boat is a '78. I don't think I'd want anything from the '60's or older. I'm fine with '70s and '80s. If I recall correctly, it's a full keel boat. Apparently a little slower hull design, but also a little safer too, having the rudder fully protected from colliding into telephone poles and whatnot. She seems to have the basic bones I need, but could use a little elbow grease to get her ship shape and shining again. Fine with me, I've got more time than money and could also use some of the projects as content for the channel. Speaking of which, I spent all day editing episode 2 and it should be available to view tomorrow/today (Friday). I've chosen to have my weekly videos premier on Fridays at 8:00am Pacific time (GMT-7). Without a strict deadline, I'd probably never publish timely videos. Seems to work well for me.
