Good advice, I agree! Fortunately not a problem for this California boy, nor you Texans. The Canadians, however... good luck!

I've never owned a pair of ice skates. I'm willing to bet you haven't either. Double or nothing Tom has owned more than one pair in his time.

Stay off the ice, Tom. LOL

Haha! I do! Although, it's been a few years. I used to go roller skating back when I was a teen. I have tried roller blades once or twice but that is a different feel again. I've tobogganed aplenty, and have done some down hill skiing as well.

Seth, how are your sailing plans coming along?

Thanks for checking in on that Tom!

I've chosen a name for the project. I was originally wanting to name the boat YOLO and have the Web Page, YouTube channel, and all other social media platforms be "Sailing YOLO". But, sailingyolo.com wasn't available and the more I thought about it, even though I really like the YOLO mantra (You Only Live Once), it's ultimately pretty played out and lacks originality. So, I've settled on using my late paternal grandmothers first name, Elsie, for the boat and all associated web presence. The name was available on every platform. The website is still not complete, but it's up and running and has a functional forum and store. Still ironing out some wrinkles in the forum format.

I've found an AI music generator that doesn't do a horrible job and one of the strategies I'm going to implement to drive traffic to my website is have a new boating/cruiser style song at the end of every YouTube video and link a free download at the website. Eventually I'll have drop ship and print to order merch available in the store, but currently it's primary purpose is providing a means to download the songs. There's currently one song currently available for download in the store right now. If you guys are inclined, give it a download, a listen, and I'd love any kudos or constructive feedback you have about any part of it... the website, song, forum, strategy, anything. There's no content in any of the social media yet, but feel free to subscribe on any platforms you use. Plan is to start posting vids and making regular posts April 1st.

The search for a boat that meets my requirements while also fitting within my financial capabilities continues. I thought I had one nailed down, but the owner backed out for the time being. It was a 54 foot/16.5M sloop with a fair amount of the systems and attributes I'll need for open ocean cruising. We'll see. It may come together at a later date. I have faith the perfect boat will find me at the perfect time.

Anyway, here's my Link Tree which contains all the links to my website and every social media platform I intend to make regular posts to. Check out the website, and subscribe or follow if you're interested in following along.

Cool!
I like the title.

Thanks Tom. Pretty sure I'm going to use that one as my channels theme song. I think the opening Ukulele riff has a fairly iconic sound that people will be able to form an associative bond with, like hearing the Cheers theme song, or Seinfeld... Three's Company.

Wow, 54ft! That is way way way larger than anything I have sailed in my life
I have looked at some random interior pics of 54ft sailing vessels, all quite spacious indeed. You mean serious business Seth. Looking forward to see Elsie when she gets there.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I've been wondering what I could/should do for sound. It sure would be nice to have the sensitivity and efficiency of a horn... without the size of a horn. Whatever I do is going to have to be relatively compact. I might just stick with whatever speaker arrangement is existing. But it would be nice to have a somewhat capable PA for beach parties and whatnot. We'll see... we'll see.

Unfold the horn, perhaps?

Was more thinking along the lines of the tops. Wanting DR sensitivity, but SLAP size. In reality, the whole thought process is moot without a properly equipped and provisioned boat. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but... speaker choice doesn't even belong on the to-do list at this point.
