I get it. These cabs are pretty loud... But what setup would be most comparable to something an 810 would provide? I know that you can't hear it if you're pushing a T39 too hard, and I've heard that the O15 doesn't have some of the lows (or the throw) of a sub+top setup. I'm asking how loud these things are compared to an 810. The specs are mentioned earlier in the thread, but I'll list 'em again:

SWR Megoliath 810, 1200W, ported, tweeter, 100 dB SPL @ 1W1M (-3dB @ 37 Hz & 13 kHz). It's being driven by a QSC PLX1602.

I'm looking for a wall of sound. No, I don't need sound this big all the time, but I have been in situations before where I did need it. So, what will make people pee a little when I slap a string? What will make women scream and babies cry and men gnash teeth (other than my playing :chainsaw: )? What will make ears bleed and faces melt? What will loosen people's bowels? What will cause small fluctuations on seismic scales?

I've heard that the BFM cabs are loud. From everyone. But a LOUD O10 won't replace a REALLY LOUD 810. The O10 is comparably much louder than the O15... But is it as loud as an 810? No. So what would be?

Looks formidable for a single man operation...
My biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my toys for what I said I paid for them.

But I'd like to reiterate that this is a one-man setup. Anything bigger than a T39+top is gonna be too much for me. Would a 2X12 30" T39 be moot? Or would it yield any benefit over a 1X12?

Maybe I'm asking the wrong question... How does an O15 stack up against a T39+top (other O10 or DR250)?

yeah i wouldnt want to put that up on my own. the titans i could manage (as long as i put dave perrys heavy BB ones on the bottom), but not the second DR.

Not if you genuinely need that kind of volume. What are the guitarists in your band using for backline amplification? Double full stacks?

For a single 3012LF, 30" width is optimum, as I assume you've seen in the SPL charts, but it can be built as thin as 16"w. If you want dual 3012LFs, it would make more sense to put them in two 16"w T39s instead of one bigger, heavier cabinet.

I don't think you've asked wrong questions, but this one will get you an important answer.

According to Harley, who has built almost every BF design, the T39/DR250 combo SOUNDS the best for bass guitar. So, if you want to sound as good as possible, not just be as loud as possible, they're your best choices.

Man, I've got the plans for the O15TB, and am planning to build asap, but after looking over the DR and Tuba thing I'm :slap:ing myself! But I'm going ahead anyway. In my world, one cab is, at this point, better than two! But I'm pretty sure I'll be into that DR/Tuba set-up soon enough! Dang...

Well, I actually grew up in Lafayette! I'd been living in Los Angeles with my guitarist, but we moved back to Baton Rouge a couple of days ago! I guess I need to update my account info! :)

I've decided to go with a DR-250 with the T39... But I'm wondering what size T39 best suits a single DR250. I figure that'd be the place to start. :)

Does anyone know what size that would be?

From an "ease of stacking" perspective, it'd be 22" wide T39 because that's how wide the DR250 is.
