Okay, so your dishes, they kinda look like the Dayton MD132's? I assume you run Speakons simply for the safety factors, right?
Not sure what the number is, I get them through Leland. PE has them listed.

I use Speakons because while 1/4" phone jacks are great for switchboards, they have no place in the world of PA. Unfortunately I'm stuck with them on my monitors due to our small gig system. Eventually I'll change them all over.

You use these, right?

Leland has them listed here:

Not to start any flaming here, but that link shows em as $14.59 each.

At PartsExpress, they're $4.22 each.

Not to start any flaming here, but you need to slow down and read. Leland's price includes the speakons, screws, gasketing tape, etc. PE's price is for the plate only. Go to PE and add up all the prices, see where you end up.

Sliiiiiiiiick. Now I get it. First glance, it seemed like he was saying it was "to be used with", kinda like how some places list items you should buy with this.

Hmm... actually, this will save quite a lot of time for me, if I order up stuff to replace my existing cabs, and for my planned future cabs. Time to reconsider a LOT of stuff to get modified!

I love it. More projects for me to work on. I'll NEVER get back to regular life! WOOHOO! Lock the door to my woodshop and shove my food under the door! I ain't goin' NOWHERE!!! Ahh, if only life was so simple....

Rain protection... home depot, paint isle, 1-2 mil plastic dropcloths that come in a pack of 3 rolls. Enough protection from rain, works fine on wedges in the rain, easy to work with, dispoasble, and best of all easy to carry in your utility kit with your tiedowns and other little neccessities so you don;t forget to bring it. 1 mil is actually better.

I REALLY need my photographer to get my pics to me. I had new photos of just about everything taken a while back. They show ALL the stuff in various configurations. Makes it very plain as to what's what. The pics on the site now are just ones I took or got from the mfgs site.

CRACK THAT WHIP!

My forecast for this weekend says my block party's gonna get rained out as well.

I feel so.... violated.

BUT HEY! I got to dump money into new gear that I can set up as my new home stereo! Heh heh heh...

I'll go buy the 1-mil plastic rolls.

HOLY CRAP! Walt?!!??!?

I waited for you to join the forum for a while after that show, but when you never showed I guessed you just weren't a joiner. Glad you finally made it!

They must've projected somewhere, the cops came as we were breaking down!

I have a few of those recessed Speakon jack plates... they look to be difficult to use with two cables installed.
My biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my toys for what I said I paid for them.

Excellent review. I have similar experiences with weather. My boxes are covered with Duratex. I got hit with a desert sandstorm with gusts over 60mph, then the torrential rain, about 2 inches in a straight hour of downpour. All I could do is watch, and start rolling up cables and stuff. The boxes sat in the mud on the ground until rivers started to form pouring off the nearby hill. I had an open back pickup with no tarp, it had blown away with the initial burst. After loading up the sand and water soaked cabs, I was sure I would have problems when I got them home for inspection. Similar to Tim's experience, I wiped them down and they all performed flawlessly the very next night. I love my homemade BFM horn boxes, which have proved themselves over and over in the harsh desert environment, not to mention bouncing on the pavement of the 202 at 60 mph.
Would any other big name speaker cab on the planet stand up to such abuse? I think not. 8)

Not at all. Very easy to use, they're my first choice. I like the fact they can be slid tight against a wall. And if you install them so the cord is pointed down based on how you'll most set up the cabs, there's a lot less chance of a broken jack or plug from someone stepping on a cord.

pgolde, I hope I never have an opportunity to do the 'highway test', I'm happy to take your word for it!

Only if you have huge hands, or if you built them with the latch on the wrong side. Don't do it like this:
Image

Rather install them like so
Image

So both latches will be on the outside
Image

No problem unlocking
Image

They protrude less than the regular dishes, but will not go flat to the wall.
