T48 Opening Covering

#1 Post by badblood70 »

Hello all. I have a dozen T48's and some of them are getting up in the years and starting to show it. Right now they are just painted black. I have freshened them up from time to time over the years with fresh coats, but I think I am going to break down this winter and Duratex them. While I am at it I was wondering about putting some kind of covering over the throat. That is where the majority of dust settles in on them and make them look a little rough to the audience even after a recent fresh coat of paint. My concerns are if I put something to mount a covering to will it mess with the sound, I don't think too much but better to check. Also what would you guys recommend for a covering as grill material is $$$$. I also have 8 Omni 15's i would probably do at the same time. Let me know what you think!

I assume you mean the mouth, the driver fires into the throat. Brackets to hold grille cloth or wire mesh won't bother anything.
