In short: I was hoping for true to life bass that previous bass projects never quite got me and I got it!
Use: Mainly 2 channel
Together with: DIY JBL 4367
Current crossover: 48db, 50Hz
Driver: JBL SUB1500
Summary: I have built and tested various solutions for accurate bass in my listening room: I have had 4xJBL 2242 in big ported boxes, 4x15", 2x21", 2x tapped horns with 18" drivers but nothing comes close to my THTLP 's. They pressurize the room like nothing else and equally much over their entire range. They dig deep but are still fast, punchy and articulate. Very deep notes are reproduced effortlessly and with a fidelity to life I havent heard in any other hifi system Ive listened to.
I'm not a bass junkie but I want the bass reproduction to not limit my sound system in any way and that is the way the THTLP works.
Thanks to Bill for great service when questions arose during the build.
Finally a tip for potential builders: dont think twice, just go ahead. And if possible use high grade birch plywood, it warps a lot less then eg pine and makes the build easier.
