Bookshelf speakers

#1 Post by aldrichg9 »

Hello,

I have previously built SLAs for my home theater.

I am looking for bookshelf speakers to build for my home office.

Have seen the 2 driver SLAs (no tweeters, meant for surround??) As well as the SLA Pro.

Specifically, looking for something with high sensitivity (haven't chosen an amp yet, possibly tube?) and with full, detailed sound that will give me all the tingles while I work from home.

Has anyone used any designs here for this purpose?

I have done some searching in this forum without many results.

Office is 8ft X 14ft

Assuming I will need a sub? Maybe one of the auto tubas?

Thanks,
Greg

We don't have anything that would work without a sub. If you have room for a T18 then the four midbass SLA would work.

Ok thanks for the quick reply!

I will check the dimensions of T18 and report back if I end up building something.

I use a Truck Tuba in my office under a corner facing desk/work counter like a kick panel. You don't notice it unless it is pointed out. Sounds great with my old pair of KRK 7000s. If I was building something new, I would maybe do the 3" small SLA's. I'm not sure if Bill was referring to the standard ones or the small ones, but both would work great, I would imagine.I also use 6 driver SLA's in my main system, and they always sound great.
