Introduce Me.
Hello All.
My Name is Jeff Flowers. I am a 40 something year old drummer/soundman. I own my own little business and work a lot with wood and speaker enclosures for the car audio customers. I have lots of time with ported sealed and multi driver pro PA enclosures. I have done repairs on other cabinets for several years. Oh yea, I live in a little town south of Louisville Ky Usa. Its called Brooks. Its one of those dont blink or you miss it towns. I currently Play in a Praise and Worship ROCK and ROLL band. Me and my 18 year old son decided we needed to team up and make a joyfull noise( Some of the other folks at our church thinks thats all it is)
Im kinda new to this forum thing but things that all you guys talk of and teach of are very helpful. Thank you all for the input.
I have built my first set of TUBA36s It took me a little time to set up but after running and assembly they went together quite nicely. Our band used them for the first time this past weekend. Everyone at the Show was Impressed. We were in a small room and the 2 15" tubas was way more than we needed .
Im trying to decide which tops to build and we will be building more of the tubas to match the ones that we already have. Kinda looking forward to doing larger events.
I would like to thank Bill for all his time and efforts in sharing the knowledge that he has been blessed with. It guys like you that make guys like us sound better.
Sorry guys. I tend to like to hear myself talk alot. I will keep you up date on the new tops.
Hope your Day is as wonderful as mine.

Thanks Mikey. I have been reading through all of the plans and had decided that a dr series is what we needed. I now need to find one real advatage over the other. If you have any tips in any threads please point me in the dirrection. Usually playing in narrow long rooms. I love the thought of the elements instead of compression drivers. Cost and efficiency thay are much better. However the old car audio days of a 10" woofer and "Piazzo" leads me down a hard path of proving to others that they can sound as good as you guys say.

The DR250s have wider horizontal dispersion than the DR280 and DR300. If at some time you find that the two DR250s are not enough, build two more. Use the crossfiring piezo option.
"Piezo paranoia" is common. Throughout this forum you can read the praises of hundreds of people who love them. Take the leap of faith and build them. As for others, don't say a word about the piezos until after they have heard them, while the perma-grin is still on their faces.

Hello from Denver CO
Hi,
I'm Todd. I play noise. I have much experience building DIY electronics, fx pedals, and some synths. I am very poor and embrace the diy lifestyle for all I do. The last few years, I have been helping touring avant-garde acts with booking shows in town. Most touring groups don't bring PA's and require LOUD full spectum sound. Sooo, I have been building a system for myself, and for touring acts who play in venues with slim to no PA. Most venues don't like noise, and will not book them, so warehouses, art galleries, and empty buildings are where most are held.
Right now, I have a 3 way stereo PA, with a sub in mono. The stereo low-end rolls off at 100hz, so it acts more like a 4 way.
Here, I am interested in upgrading my sub to a pair, or two pair of T24s. My current sub is a 4x12 folded horn (W style) that is 50" tall, which is way too big for me to lug up any kind of steps for I am a one man show. Also looking to upgrade the other ranges of cabs, for more efficiency and volume.
I've got questions, so you'll see me around here....
Thanks.
Todd
PS - For noise music, the loudest sound is sometimes better than the cleanest sound (but still prefered if possible). It's a physical experience sometimes, not an auditory one. So 'painfuly' loud is what I'm looking for. Can Bill's designs do this in a small package?

Hi everyone.
My name is Daryll and I am from chichester ,UK, I have been lurking around these forums for a few weeks and have deceided to emerge from the closet.
I am 50 years old and a painter and decorator by trade, I have always wanter to build my own speakers but have never found a site quite like this one, excellent content, friendly, and a positive attitude to new members( me for instance...).
I have volunteered ( from a list of one !!!) to arrange a PA and Lighting rig for my local Drama group.
Lighting is no problem, Rack mount computer with a USB to DMX cable, software, a few lights, stands and there you have it ( if only it was that easy).
PA, well so far a behringer dual 31 band EQ, Patch bay ,Zoom multi FX, and a home built 6U rack unit housing 4 x 150watt MOSFET amps and 2 electronic two way crossovers
.
As we never play in front of 100 + people I was thinking along the lines of a pair of DR250`s and a pair of Tuba 30`s.
I was also toying with the idea of a small PA hire service ,so more DR 250`s and more tuba 30`s, storage may be a small problem as i live in a Caravan (Mobile home/trailer park etc).
But thats the least of my worries, Being as I have just brought a Roland MIDI controller keyboard, PC has Fruity loops and a load of VST instruments, I could even go and play live somewhere, emmm, more speakers..
.
So please bare with me as I ask the questions that everyone on the fourum knows, bar me....
Cheers.

Is this a plan, or have you purchased and implemented this already?
Been doing this long?
* I've been the tech for a performing arts school ( over 25 years now - time flies ) Setting not too different then yours ( 150 -200 max ). Dance/Acting/Storytelling classes and performances with an occasional road show.

Basically if it involves electricity/computers it becomes my job by "default"
Hi Sydney.
Yes I allready have the units.
I have a 11U high home Made ( a term I use a lot..
) rack.
It houses a 4u Computer rack, nightmare to get hold of, buy great.
AMD 2800 CPU/ 1gig Ram/ Audigy 4 sound card/Win XP Pro/ DMX software.
Sonar LE, and loads of VSTi instruments, My favorite plug in is the Auturia CS 80 ( have you seen the price of a orignal Yamaha CS80
)
I have fitted a 4 way USB Pci expansion card and took all the USB ports to a front mounted 1U panel, the sound card outputs are also routed to 2 female XLR scokets on the same panel, nake life easier for connections.
Whem I get round to taking a few pics, I`ll post them.
We do 3/4 shows a year, mainly based of Murder mystery plays, I love to preform, but I love playing with my "boys toys" as well
.
Cheers.

Finally got started on the 4 -Titans with the help of my friend, start assembly probally in a couple of weeks then just going to wait on Tim ard to see how what he has been talking about works out for my tops.
