Welcome back!
What sort of music do you plan on reproducing? Try Audacity to see what a good bulk of the lows get down to.

Welcome back

I don't have it in me at the moment to reread the thread and scrub info out of it.
- How many LAB 12's do you have?
- DJ, Live, both, or what?
- Indoors or Outdoors? If both, which would be the most common venue?
- What's the size of venue/s?
- Are there any size considerations that need to be addressed for storage, transport, deployment, or weight limits?

Hey Tom..... my personal favourite, 90s/00 "Classic" Trance I love a bit of Binary Finary, Lange, Space Brothers, Signum etc

But would also be used for 60/70/80/90/00 pop chart stuff as I'd probably be taking on the role of family birthday wedding new year party DJ (can't be arsed anymore doing roadshows etc)

Brings me onto Seth. DJ mostly. I can't sing or play anything worthy, so unless someone said DJ set with an acoustic slot etc, then even that nah. Not these days.

Probably indoor, but I'd love yo do a garden party at some point.

I've got 2x Lab 12s that were in my Titan 39s with Mackie SRM450v2 tops. Wasn't a bad sounding setup so I know I could go that way again if needed.

Storage, nah I've got a 500sq ft garage. Also a short wheel base Transit Tourneo that the seats can easily be removed.

Venue sizes, nothing huge, local social club sized stuff, hotel function room.

BassheadUK2, would you like a half octave lower capability than what you had with the T39s? If yes, then go for the T30 as wide as you can transport (make cardboard mockups to try). I would say that anywhere above 24" is a start, going as wide as 30" if you can. The T30 won't go as loud as the T39 on the same power.

I had a JBL MPX 1200 to power the T39's but never actually got the amp set past half way, so I think the depth would be better.

I'd like to get them through a doorway

So far, Basshead, it sounds like you made the right choice and built the appropriate cab for your needs the first time around.

Other designs offer lower response, but none of the music references you posed will take advantage of it. T39 will do everything you require.

Now, on the other hand, if you wanted to put the LAB 12's in a cab that's designed to capitalize on the driver's strong suits and showcase the drivers capabilities... You could always build a pair of 20" wide T60's, which would also do what you require... plus a little more if you specifically search out music sources with lower frequency content. Careful with this option though... it's more addictive than cigarettes and there's no 12 step program. :conf:

At 20" x 30" x 60", the down side is the cab's size. But, I think two would fit in the vehicle you listed.

Seth, did you use Audacity or some such? I listened to some stuff on my headphones and it seems like Space Brothers and Signum went below 40hz.

I did love my T39s to be fair and so did everyone else except the venue owners of the two parties I did. One had 4 bedrooms over the function room, which I told the manager was stupid, it should be sound blocked at least. His reply was "it is, it's not the volume you can hear its the feeling of the beat, its shaking everything"

When I asked how many complaints they had I was disappointed when he said 3. I replied with I'd have tried to get the 4th if I'd have known. But apparently that would never happened as that room wasn't occupied. 😮

The other venue was concerned its signage was going to fall off and it was being felt in the carpark.

Both times volume was reasonable though. It wasn't ears bleeding with the second venue having a DMM popped into the back of my amp seeing around 20v max. Must have been the Vplate and positioning advice in the instructions that helped.

After both events my old MPX1200 was still blowing out cool air, the amp never really got to work hard at all. Id love another one of them!

Tops wise I was using the SRM450v2 Mackies. Crossed 100-20khz and they performed well too. Obviously not having to thump they didn't struggle by the end of the night.

I did have a look at the T60 plans last night, now the subs are pretty straightforward, not a lot of difference in them. But tops. I'd like a pair of tops to go with them, but the DR plans scare me, so it might have to be the OT's unless I can get some help with them DRs

I'll have a look at Audacity at some point, I do enjoy the Judge Jules Global Warm Up (GWU) and some of this modern stuff seems deep.

If anyone's read the whole thread here you'll see it started before I had child, now child is 10 and showing a keen interest in music asking how it's mixed etc so I think I might have a DJ in the making here. It'll be nice to have a real decent setup to pass on to him.

Other info about my previous setup. 2x Pioneer CDJ2000nxs DJM900nxs. Beringer DCX DEQ in a rack with a Behringer VMX1000 as a console I guess, allowing levels to be set, play from a phone, or the backup CD player I had.

Just a quick question regarding limiter/cross/eq

I had a DCX2496 and DEQ2496 with ECM8000 RTA mic. Behringer doesn't have the best name for durability, and back then I couldn't afford the DBX.

The DBX looks like an all in one box solution? Does it all rather than having 2 devices?

I did not. I pulled up the listed artists and listened for a couple hours. I enjoyed the music quite a bit, but didn't hear anything that seemed to even come close to pushing 40Hz, not even 45Hz. If you've got one or two you think I should listen to, what are they? I'd love to give 'em a listen!

Coast 2 Coast - Home (5am mix)
Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl (Above and beyond mix)
System F - Out of the blue. Cry.
Rank 1 - Airwave. Breathing
Johnny Shaker - Pearl River (Vocal mix)
Lange - I believe. Follow me. Drifting away.
Signum - Coming on strong. Whatcha got for me.
Cosmic Gate - Exploration of space. Firewire.
Veracocha - Carte blanche.
Nailin & Kane - Beachball.
Southside Spinners - Luvstruck.
Mauro piccotto - Lizard.
Liquid child - diving faces.
Binary Finary - 1998. 1999. 2000.
Space Brothers - Legacy.

Many more!

OK so I'll be looking for a driverack, never had an issue with the Behringer to be fair, but only actually using them for 2 events, no wonder!!!

I'm on the hunt for another MPX1200. A back breaking weight but such a lovely amplifier.

I am still undecided on Tuba/Titan. And now someone's thrown T60 in the mix too. 😳

I suppose I could always add another 2x Tuba to get the volume and the lows. Now thinking about family parties etc I expect some more modern chart stuff, probably pay to have the extra lows needed.

I can't decide if I should do a pair of DR tops the plans scare me, as they even say its a challenging build. Only reason i used the Mackie as tops as I had no Time previously to build tops.

I loved all of them. Fun, dance friendly music that's sure to get the ladies up and shaking their thing. Easy to mix too. I enjoyed the seemingly obvious "DJ Jean - Sandstorm" inspired buildup in Veracocha - Carte Blanche. Out of that list, "Liquid child - diving faces", Mauro piccotto - Lizard, and Space Brothers - Legacy seemed to have the lowest content. And, just based on my ear, all three are easily within the capabilities of the T39. I could be wrong. 45Hz and below are very lumpy and visceral frequencies and I personally didn't hear it in that lineup.
OK so I'll be looking for a driverack, never had an issue with the Behringer to be fair, but only actually using them for 2 events, no wonder!!!
I never had an issue with the Behringer processors either. The driverack does offer everything on one unit, which is a plus. And it's a product from a more professionally recognized brand, so your rack will "look" more professional. But really, it's not any sort of mandatory upgrade, the Behringer units will do exactly what you need them to do and they'll do it really well without any noticeable downsides in audio quality.
I'm on the hunt for another MPX1200. A back breaking weight but such a lovely amplifier.

Suit yourself. We all have our favorite things and pieces of gear. But, 65 pounds is an unwieldly beast in an age where any budget friendly Class D amplifier with enough voltage swing will weigh less than 25 pounds, likely closer to 15 pounds and will do you quite well while keeping the amp rack from breaking your back (or your forklift LOL).
I am still undecided on Tuba/Titan. And now someone's thrown T60 in the mix too. 😳
You can't go wrong, no matter which path you choose. I can't wait to witness the unfolding of your adventure.
I suppose I could always add another 2x Tuba to get the volume and the lows. Now thinking about family parties etc I expect some more modern chart stuff, probably pay to have the extra lows needed.
Whatever you choose, start with a pair and go from there. Or not.

Yeah I think the OT12 might just be within my scope!

The MPX range seem to have dried up. Can't seem to see any about. What are todays choices?

What are the choices for "booth" monitor? Not something I've ever had but something a friend demanded once when he went in the mix. Wedge10?

Oh and I'd love an autotuba in the car 🤣
