Baseline EQ for 4 Otop 12's

EQ guys are using on their cabs/systems. A good starting place if you don't have your own RTA.

Baseline EQ for 4 Otop 12's

#1 Post by wbredin »

Hey all,

I built my 4 Otop12's using 3012HO drivers and ASD 1001's. I'm running a venue 360 and looking for a rough baseline EQ curve. I'll be running them out in the desert, so room reflections won't be an issue. Any input is welcome, thanks!

Have a look at the discussion going on on page three

Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Set it up outside....get a reference mic and use the auto-EQ in the driverack. Then clean it up listening to some music. There is no perfect curve.

OK awesome, thank you for the input. I will try the auto eq feature.

One Venu360 specific question though: I have an EQ profile for my T48's in there as well and I don't want the auto eq to overwrite that. I've been told that if I 'group' the T48 channels, then run the Auto EQ, it won't mess with those settings. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks

Depends on what you mean by profile? If you mean the limiter settings and crossover settings, then just bring up your settings and save them as a new User location. Then, do all of the Auto EQ you want.

If you mean you've already EQed the T48s and you want to save that, I'd have to ask.....why? EQ is a system-wide setting.

So i have two channels for the T48's and two for the Otops. I'd only like the auto EQ the two channels devoted to the Otops. So no, it's not really a system wide EQ that i'm looking for, just a two channel EQ. The question is how to keep the Auto EQ from effecting everything.

Why would you not want to EQ the subs? Can you elaborate on what you are trying to achieve?

Even if you are running Aux-fed subs, the 360 has 3 inputs, so it can all run through there.

I already have the proper eq profile loaded into the two channels that drive the Titans 48's. I want that to remain unchanged. I just want the Auto EQ to affect the two channels heading to Otop amps. Basically I want it to auto eq ONLY channels 3 and 4, not 1 and 2.

Well, I guess you can run the auto-EQ, then set all of the faders on the graphic to flat below your crossover point. That way, only the tops are affected and and the subs will retain whatever you have loaded in the amps.......

Still an odd way to go about it.....because the tops are going to have some impact below the crossover point due to the slope of the crossover. But, that's the best answer I can give you on how to do it.
