My idea of a US holiday would be a week in Vegas, and coming home with two suitcases full of 302s and 1016s.
Nice lead Lark, Bunnings has a few paints of that style, I'll start there cheers man.
Bruce, The Krylon "Hammered" isn't available to us here, thank you for the tip though.
Where's that Priscilla outfit you had Grant, his cape thing would be perfect for a cab cover..

With so many to choose from, it's hard to know which pattern would look the best for speaker grill duty.

Hey Happy New Year legends!
Definitely the womans firetiger leotard Seth! Though we have a different Priscilla here, it's actually the name of a bus in an awesome Australian movie.
The best price for half inch actual BB here in Brisbane from "Plywood and Panel Supplies" on the northside is $165 a sheet, I'll aim to head over there on the 14th and grab a couple. 1/4 and 1/8 Italian Poplar and BB I can't find local, so I've ordered off eBay; 1/8 is on is way but waiting for confirmation if the 1/4 is 3 ply.

Oh my... this bit of conversation has become even more humerous than I originally thought. I was thinking 80's hair band spandex, not drag queen spandex.

It takes too long to do my makeup Seth, I'll get a pic next time I do a show
Has anyone had experience with "Bendy ply"? It's available in 5 and 8mm (cross grain or long grain..?) online, it's for the horn sheaths on a DR. Should I keep looking?

Re: Australian Options - Suppliers / Drivers etc
The mob is "Ply Online", their 1/4 or 6mm is 5 ply (the plans specify 3 only). Just wondering if because it's "bendy" and 1mm thinner, whether it's strong enough, and if it we can use it, which grain is best, cross or long? I'm not a fan of Bunnings lumber anymore man, seems too expensive for the level of quality. I want to see what I'm missing out on with BB!
I could make the 8mm work easily, but is 1mm each way going to upset displacement of the chamber and horn path?

bendy ply, for me, is best not worth overthinking to much. All ply bends, less so as it gets thicker, or ply count goes up, hence the recommendation for 3 ply.
Is it 1/4" for the sheaths on the 280? The 250 sheath is 1/8" (3mm) and 1/4" for the back + parts of the horn for CD's.
Hang about, are you talking about ply online Victoria?
Forget that if that's the case.
Plywood and Panel at Darra do a 5 mm short or cross grain bending ply (that would be better minimising wastage compared to long grain). No, it's not 1/4: but those back halves, even pre bending, are painful, so 1mm might help.
I recommend walking into a store, and bending the ply, if it breaks it's no good.
I also recommend getting ply as fresh as possible in terms of manufacture. Old stock will split and break much more readily...

Re: Australian Options - Suppliers / Drivers etc
Bending plywood has the grain of all the plies in the same direction, that's why it bends easily. If anything you'd go thicker than with standard 3 ply plywood, which has the outer plies with the grain in one direction, the inner ply at 90 degrees to those.Keryn O'Shea wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 5:56 pm The mob is "Ply Online", their 1/4 or 6mm is 5 ply (the plans specify 3 only). Hi mate
Yes, the butt cheeks are still 1/8" on the 280 though. I have the 1/8" at 3 ply here.
Yes, should I not buy their gear?Grant Bunter wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 8:33 pm Hang about, are you talking about ply online Victoria?
I called them before Xmas regarding their 1/4" ply count which is 3, they are who I'm aiming to get to for the 1/2" BB as well, it's just getting there is the problem atm, super busy with work. Re: Australian Options - Suppliers / Drivers etc
I reckon it won't be any better a product than something you can get locally, without the expense of freight. I recently got a quote from one company to freight from Melbourne to home and they wanted $357 for a box. With cuts, you'd still be looking at pallet price I reckon.
Have you asked them if they deliver?Keryn O'Shea wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 11:50 pmI called them before Xmas regarding their 1/4" ply count which is 3, they are who I'm aiming to get to for the 1/2" BB as well, it's just getting there is the problem atm, super busy with work.
