THTLP #2 is in the house!

#1 Post by DaveMacKay »

In truth, this post doesn't belong in "Build Threads" because I didn't build my second THTLP --- Tom Smit (an authorized builder) built it for me.

But I have it now and wanted to show it off! Here it is.
THTLP No 2.JPG
The box mounted on the subwoofer is a SPA250DSP plate amp.

Here's my system.

I built the first THTLP (the one on the right of the photo) in my unheated garage (see thread viewtopic.php?f=30&t=26127). That THTLP sounded so good that I wanted a second one to help deal with my room's acoustic challenges. Since it's now too cold to build in the garage, I asked Tom Smit if he'd build it for me. He did a fantastic job!

Tom's been active on this forum for 14 years but, to my knowledge, has never posted a photo. Here's a photo of the man himself:

Thanks for the kudos, Dave!

For those that don't know, that white stuff on the ground is called "snow". LOL.

And what do they call the white stuff on your head?

Actually, I'm just jealous because you have something on your head.

Looks great (the sub that is). Just kidding, you look great too Tom. :D

I'm planning on building a pair of THTLP's before long. It's always surprising to see how large they are in comparison to other objects.

35 foot wavelengths at 110dB do not come out of small boxes.

Um, are you referring to ...wooden shoes, wooden head, wooden listen?

By the way, I do own a pair of klompen (wooden shoes), and wear them around outdoors.
