Simplexx 2x12 (no tweeter) offsetting the drivers

#1 Post by cryhavoc »

I’m building the Simplexx 2x12 for use with bass guitar. I’m not installing a horn/tweeter as I’ve never liked the sound of them for bass. The design plans show all drivers being stacked directly on top of each other. I was wondering if there was a reason for this structurally or sound wise, or if I could offset them? Aesthetically, I like the look of the offset, but I also thought it might make the weight distribution more even when carrying it. Has anyone done this, or is anyone able to offer some insight on this? Thanks

What I meant was, instead of having both drivers offset on the left side of the baffle, could I have one offset on the left and one offset on the right?

That's even worse than both centered, as it will result in a loss of dispersion in the mids and comb filtering in the highs.
