Hello!!
Does anyone have any experience with the QSC GX series amps? I am building 4x OTOP12s with 3012s and F151Ms, will a GX 5 suit these?

If you can, get the GX7. Totally different amp from the GX3 and 5. Lighter, more powerful and pretty good workhorses.

or, save $70 and go with the Crown XLS 2502. Plenty of power for those boxes with the added bonus of being 2ohm capable should you ever need it. The GX 7 is only good down to 4 ohms per side.Bruce Weldy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 4:43 pmIf you can, get the GX7. Totally different amp from the GX3 and 5. What other amps will it be racked with?

Re: OTOP 12 amp question
I haven't decided. I have a hodge podge of amps already, including a gx5 that I've not used yet. I just picked up this GX5 because it was a decent deal.

Re: OTOP 12 amp question
The reason I ask is that you don't want to mix amps in the same rack that vent in opposite directions. Crown pulls in the front and blows out the back (which makes absolute sense to me), while QSC, Behringer, etc go the other way. If you mix 'em, then you get a circle of hot air cycling through your amps.
What are your subs and what amp powers them?

Re: OTOP 12 amp question
I have a bi-amp configured set of otop12s four per side. I run a Crown XLS1000 for the high frequency and and XLS1500 on the mids. I run series parallel wiring for an 8ohm nominal. I run out of subwoofer before I run out of otop, the amps have headroom by 3-6db I estimate.
Not sure if that helps.

Current subs are a pair of Yamaha CW118V powered by a Behringer EP4000. When/if I get my T39s built I will use something different as I don't think I'll need this heavy beast for those.Bruce Weldy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 5:44 pmThe reason I ask is that you don't want to mix amps in the same rack that vent in opposite directions. It does help, thank you. What drivers are in your otops?ACUA wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 11:39 pm I have a bi-amp configured set of otop12s four per side. Re: OTOP 12 amp question
Horns are eminence asd1001d, the mid driver is eminence delta pro-12a. If I could do them all over I would spring for the 1.2k crossover configuration.

Re: OTOP 12 amp question
The EP4000 is only 10 pounds more that the GX5. I'd either go QSC all the way with two GX7s or make a change to Crown. Either is an upgrade from the Berry.....
