trailer tetris

#1 Post by himhimself »

Spent a little time today figuring out how to transport my stuff around more efficiently. I have a little 5x6 enclosed trailer and was able to get everything in. 4 t30s, 4 otops, a 14-space shock mount amp rack, mixer case, speaker stands, 10x10 canopy, and a couple cord cases. I have wheels on my T30s, but ended up building two 2'x2' dollies so I can lay them on their sides doubled up, since that works better for space utilization. Casters were free, plywood was free, so no cost other than my time today. And the two stacks of otops sit on a little wagon made with more free casters. I have a slick little wheelchair folding ramp that I picked up from craigslist that lets me pull everything up into the trailer by my self, so can do the whole thing solo if necessary. Have a party to do later this month - first chance to use the BFM rig in a long time, so hoping all goes well. It will be a good op check, as I have an outdoor wedding next month. Can't wait to hear the boom again!

Four t30’s on the left side, laying on their sides doubled up on roller dollies. V-plate is sitting at the very back. Amp rack is toward the front on the right with the otop wagon at the rear. Just barely enough room to get it in due to the door being a bit narrower than the overall trailer width. I trimmed off the corners of my sub sled so it can fit now too, by going a few inches into the v at the front of the trailer. It works well outside to give me a flat surface to lay the tubas on. I can jam a few wedges in where needed to get it level on grass and such. Might make some dollies for it as well. Would be cool to be able to pile up the tubes with the v-plate and then still be able to roll it around to find the optimum location.

Here’s the sub sled. Marked the distance to add for proper placement next to a wall so I don’t have to guess or have to try to move once the subs are plopped on it.
