:D :D :D that's hilarious, Seth!

Just dug out my db meter. The cicadas are registering over 90db right now. Hot day, just had a little rain, and they are singing like crazy!
None of those out here in Cali. Didn't even know they existed until I moved to Wisconsin a handful of years ago. Noisy little buggers for sure.

Had never seen a firefly/lightning bug either, until then. Only on cartoons. Wasn't really sure if they really existed or not. LOL

We are allowed to go to restaurants and stores but not to establishments whose primary business is selling alcohol. So that pretty much rules out playing music and running sound.

On another note, my retirement request was approved so I'll be outta here in December. I hope that I can do more musically without the heavy restrictions that come along with active duty.
Thanks for your service Bryan and congrats on your retirement  If I could go back in time, I'd have enlisted right out of high school.

Hopefully the COVID restrictions will loosen up for you over the next couple months.
I really appreciate it, Seth. Thank you. Either way, this December I'll no longer be subject to Federal rules so I plan to make a ton of noise.

How much power would it take a speaker with 98dB average sensitivity to match the output of a speaker with a 102dB average on 125watts?
310 watts. :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Close enough to assume you got it right and rounded to the nearest 10. Well done Tom  Rounded to the nearest tenth, I get 313.8

Did you set that up in a spreadsheet or plunk it out on the calculator?

Seth, I figured out how to do it with the calculator provided by Ubuntu 20.04. I first had to enter log, then the power figure and then equals... after which I multiplied by 10, and added that to the original db.

I figured that the nearest 10 was enough (for me).

Sooooooo... what's to chat about???

Power con's maybe? Thinking a little about creating a power distribution solution for my system and future gig needs with considerations for power needs on stage as well as system power.

I keep all my gear in 4RU racks with suitcase style rollers to keep it all manageable to handle (size/weight) . As I put together organized rear connection panels the thought of using Neutrik powerCON or powerCON TRUE1 connectors for an easy one and done solution that wont pull out. Are any of you guys using these or have any experience with them? What's your thoughts?

The TRUE1 solution looks pretty slick (the black and yellow ones in the middle). I like the integrated in/out in one receptacle, would make it easy to run power from one rack to the next, to the next, to the next... as well as there being a male and female plug for easy daisy chaining cables, unlike the standard powerCON that requires an adapter.

Would be great to just have a clean little jumper from one rack to the next that is impervious to accidental pullouts.

I have put powercons in a few racks that I've built. I do it to keep AC cords from having to be shoved back into the rack and screwing stuff up.

I'd use the regular powercons from rack to rack.

What I do is buy a good 25 ft. extension cord. Cut off the female end about 3 inches back. Solder the female end to the powercon in the rack and attach the interior power strip to that. That way, if you ever lose the male to powercon ext cord, you can always use a regular extension cord in a pinch.

Thought I had a picture of the inside of the panel, but couldn't find one.

I like that snippet of wisdom, about maintaining a standard plug on the power strip for the just-in-case. I don't think I'd have thought of that.

What do you do for power drops on stage?

I've built those, but not with powercons. No need to. Just build the box and use a 25ft ext cord. I have two like that and I bought one of these....or one like it....

https://www.parts-express.com/Talent-SB ... ke-234-099

That handles all the needs I have.

We have True Cons and the XLR equivalent in use at a permanent outdoor install (which is under cover) where I work.
Chosen because of their outdoor rating.

Been faultless since July 1 last year, the entire system is used every day (well, night).

Here's a teaser:

Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...
