Jack 210 or 212 lite

#1 Post by matmonster58 »

I've looked through the forum but I don't think I've come across what I'm looking for. Has anyone made a lite version of a j210 or 212? I bought a j110 lite awhile ago and have been enjoying the light weight. My 110 is enough for me now but I don't want to switch to heavy cabs if I join a louder band. I know I can just use multiple cabs, but there is something appealing about having a light weight, high efficiency, 212 cab all in one package.

Build 2 Jack10 lites ...... put PL on the top of one, place the other one on top of that - clamp - wait one day....done.

Or just let the top of one be the bottom of the other and make the sides twice as long minus the width of one top. First option is easier....

6 - T39 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24
1 - SLA Pro
2 - XF210

I was assuming that was the easiest way to do it but wanted to see if anyone had actually done it before I try.

The option for a 2x10 or 2x12 is in the plans. My reservation would be the bulk, but if you're a strapping young lad that might not put you off.

Are there lite versions of the 210 and 212 in the plans? I've seen others 212s and think they look great but they would be even better if they used the thinner bent construction that the lite cabs do.

I'm considering learning to play bass and was looking through the plans the other day to see which cab I'd build for the purpose. The Jack Lite 110 caught my interest and after breezing through the plans and looking at the SketchUp renderings, I thought the same thing. I don't think I've heard any mention of someone building a 2x Jack Lite here on the forum. It's more than what I'd need or want to stow & tote, so I wont be building one. But, I do urge you to build one. The response curve for the 210 in the SPL charts section looks fantastic and it's such a cool looking cab.

The cab-only weight of the Lite 110 is reportedly 15 pounds. A 210 Lite should be a little shy of 30. With S2010 drivers (3.5 pounds each) and only one set of caps and coils (crossover boards)... I'd hazard a guess that cab weight would be less than 50 and very likely much closer to 40, depending what extra hardware is added.

A 16 x 20 footprint and 28½" tall cab sounds like a great candidate for a couple built-in castors and a telescoping luggage style handle.

Could be a great little package.
Build in process - 2 WH6, one Alpha 6a loaded, one PRV Audio 6MB250-NDY loaded

Two 2x6 shorty SLA Pro's
One T39, 16", 3012LF loaded
Tall AutoTuba, 20" wide, 2x 8" MCM 55-2421
TruckTuba, 8½" wide, 2x 8" MCM 55-2421

Nice to hear. I bought my cab second hand so I didn't build it myself. I've never seen anything on the forum about the lite 210/212s so I didn't think they existed.
