Djay from France ;)

#1 Post by djay_72 »

Hi,

I’m 36, from Le Mans, and would like to build my own sub for my KEF Home Theater...

I would like to order plans, could you give the vector files ?

I’m serching for the best Home Theater Sub, with this dimensions :

High : 55cm Max
Width : 60cm Max
Depth : 60cm Max

What could you recommend ?

I’ve a CNC and teck wood furniture in the living room, what do you think about building on this wood ? And wich thickness ?

Thank you

Regards

Jérôme

Hi, and welcome to the forum :)

You would have to create your own vector files from the plans.
Are your required dimensions a deal breaker? The nearest HT design from Bill would be the Table Tuba:
https://billfitzmaurice.info/TT.html

The material used to build all these cabs is 1/2" or 12mm plywood.
I guess you could dress anything you build if tech wood comes as a veneer...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

errr you said 60cm in your first post, and that's pretty much 24" inches.
Is 60cm you max or no?

I would recommend a HT design, but none of those are in the dimensions you require.

If it must be those dimensions, look at a Tuba 24...

Tuba 24 isn't an HT sub. It's made to go loud, but not home theater low. Simplexx 15 Sub is 51cm wide, 51cm deep, 60cm high.

Can the sub be disguised as an end-table or other piece of furniture? A Truck Tuba might fit under a couch (but I already know what others are gonna say...)
BFM builds:
XF212
T24 BP102 24"
2x SLA's 6-5" mids, 9- gt-302's
2x AT 14" MCM 55-2421
TrT 5" MCM 55-2421
AT 18" JBL GTO804
2x OT12 flat array
2x SLA Pro 2-Alpha 6's 2-Goldwoods
2x T39 24" 3012lf
Simplex 10 BP102

The only horn loaded subs that would fit in that space would be the Tuba 18 or Tall Autotuba, but with a short horn length they may not go as low as you may want a Home theater sub to go.

The Simplex 15 looks to be a good fit. And may easiest solution.

As to making it look pretty,
Here is a link to a T18 build for some inspiration.

Authorized Builder - Phoenix AZ.
Main Rig - 6 DR200s - 6 T48s (30")
SLA Pros for the smaller stuff.

Yes, think about the Simplex 15 too, and no, table is already on place...

What do you think for the best speaker for it ? What about an Earthquake dbxi15d ?
