I have been working on a test version of this, on and off, for a while. Testing each section, before I committed to a large panel.
The panel is really just a USB MIDI controller, that will be used in conjunction with MIXXX. MIXXX is a community supported DJ software.
All of the buttons, faders, and encoders will be wired up to a Teensy ( like an Arduino) which will then be hooked up via USB to the computer. The two LCD screens up top will display FX selections.
The large square holes under the jog wheel are a frosted white arcade push button, that i have modified to hold an RGB led inside, so depending on the mode of those buttons the color will change
The jog wheels will also be cut out of ABS, the MDF one is just a test fit, which i’m Really glad we did because i had to modify it a little.
Something different and fun to work on, thought i would share a picture.

Yes! Mixxx is really cool! I’ve used it at a gig already, just not with a controller, this should make things nicer.
Added push buttons And some support structure on the backside, otherwise it’s a bit flimsy in the middle.
Definitely need to go back through and paint all those screwheads black, but I just want to get the main things wired up and make sure everything’s working first.

Re: DIY DJ controller - buttons, switches, knobs, oh my
Been a while since i updated this. There are still a list of things that need cleaned up, and finished, but functionally it works
I’m able to search the library with a rotary encoder, load them into the left or right deck, set cue points, loops, hot cues, AND i can even touch the top of the jog wheels and it stops th song! Then while touching the top of the jog wheel you can scratch, just like a commercial style controller, and when you release the jog wheel the song starts playing again!
I still need to get the VU meters mapped and working, get screens printed for those multi colored buttons ( the top 8 are multi function and change color, depending on which mode your in).
I would also like to get the jog wheels cut out of ABS and maybe have that top aluminum plate alodioned so it looks more golden in color... to sure yet, but i think that could look a lot better.
Need to finish off the case too...
