Microphone Stand Vacuum Holder

#1 Post by mlkras »

Most of us folks on the forum not only have woodworking shops of whatever size but also a lot of sound equipment that we usually don't use while we are in the workshop. I was working recently on a non audio project, mortising in some hinge cups for kitchen cabinets when I needed to set up my shop vac to collect the mountains of chips that the mortising bit threw off. I grabbed a boom stand, affixed a mic clip from my Sennheiser wireless microphones and was able to get the end of the hose in exactly the right position to collect most of the chips. What you can't see in the picture is the speaker stand holding the clip light over the work but I have ben using speakers stands for years for everything from holding lights to holding lasers. What's next, Black and Decker microphhone stands?

This is what makes this forum so great! Improvise, keep it simple and carry on. Good call my friend.

I can cover the mike stand, now for a shop vac.
It's a great idea!

I'm still using the "get covered in sawdust/sweep sawdust up with a broom" build area management method...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Not good, Grant. You are breathing in all that crap every time you make with any sawdust... sanding, cutting, any thing. Here's to you getting a vacuum or other dust collection system in place.

You forgot the 'get phonecall, step outside and jump around beating your clothing to remove as much sawdust as possible' step. I think most snacks and drinks I've had since I started making things have been at least minorly contaminated with sawdust.

My compressor has been turned on non-stop for 27 years.....and the air hose is always laying on my work table. Nothing quicker for cleaning yourself up.

It's a documented fact that most people don't get enough fiber in their diet.
