Here are a pair of my T30's at a reception with a table cloth over them, even though they were not vplated they sounded awesome
This was a partially restored barn and you can still see daylight thru the walls so it was not air tight like a normal room.

I think most of that movement came from the wind, but the subs were doing some moving too. Again, the V-plate was impressive...noticeable improvement from the arrangement in the video. I don't think I'll ever not V-plate again...it's certainly worth the extra effort. Even outdoors, it seemed much more efficient, so less stress on the amps and drivers...and it's a smaller V-plate footprint too. Come to think of it, that's another reason I chose the T30's instead of 39's or 48's. As I considered my regular venues, I didn't have that much corner or wall space for boundary loading.

Speaking of that...v-plating is not exactly inconspicuous, so I'm wondering how to make them as visually appealing as possible at venues where aesthetics is a priority, like a wedding reception. Seems like a white sheet draped down the front would be good to put some uplighting in. Any other ideas?

The v-plate is giving you a 3dB kick, so half power / 3dB of extra headroom, great outdoors, I must do one for my T48 set.

Indoors the boundaries rule the roost. Just need to see that thread from young Higginz today to see what ignoring placement rules can do for you. The wedding planner needs to leave sound to the sound guy and decorate what she's given.

I'm thinking in these cramped venues you could do a minimal footprint 4 high tower of T30 against a wall do get the levels up around a v-plated pair. A big white drop cloth should make a nice thing to bounce a light wash off.

Hey...it's been just fine. On paper it should generate 48.9 volts with maximum sensitivity running dual mono. Actual measurements taken when setting the limiter were consistently higher voltage than that, so I limit to about 47 volts with the DXC 2496. In actual use it very rarely exceeds 40 volts with just the 18" T30 pair and that's just on songs with unusually heavy bass. Adding the 26" T30's the amp has not gone over 28 volts (outside and similar content for just a moment). It has always delivered enough swing to the subs. I can see using a bigger amp for headroom, but I try not to go beyond 40 volts anyway, so I have some headroom in there anyway. Otherwise I'd have to cut back the sensitivity on the amp if it were much bigger.

LMAO! I found out today the county has been notified that the music has been too loud...in the middle of ten acres. I think 15 volts is as high as I've been here. Since my two year olds birthday party a few weeks ago, the neighbors apparently they think we've got a club and charging cover. What a freakin' endorsement!

I can just agree with how amazing this system is. Don, I think we spoke about it earlier, but now when you've had them a while, how much higher does the 26" play compared to slim? Is it worth going extra wide? I have four 27", planning to build four more and I'm curious on your take on it!

Someone ALWAYS will complain, Don. I've found that out the hard way many, many times. But heck yeah, what an endorsement for your rig!

TRUE STORY: I've had a decent home theater setup for easily 15 years now. About 8 years ago I was watching Godzilla (the newer movie that came out around 10 years ago) at about 8:00PM. Had it cranked good. Suddenly there was pounding at the door. I paused the DVD. Open the door and there they are

The cop says to me "Jesus Christ man, it sounds like Godzilla is stomping around in here! I can hear it from the parking lot! What the hell are you doing?"

I asked him to step into the living room and I pointed at the TV screen. There was Godzilla, chasing the helicopters through Manhattan, paused on the screen. Cop laughed and left...after telling me to turn it down. True story.

Just awesome to see you built two more. Having nearly the same config as you I just love how versatile they are. We also rarely exceed 28-30v with all four and have gobs and gobs of good clean low end.
