How do i wire my crossovers for a J112 with piezo array

#1 Post by izzytoots »

I am having difficulties figuring out how exactly to wire my HP/LP filter for my J112. I have the components that i ordered from leland, and i understand how to wire the low pass and the high pass filter by themselves (the plans explain that well), but I have no idea how to put it all together and finish wiring my speaker. I just finished the cabinet today, and now all i have left is wiring and insulating.

Go ahead and make the filters separate. Run from +1 on the Speakon to the woofer filter +ve, and a separate wire from woofer filter +ve to the tweeter filter -ve. Then run a single wire from -1 on the Speakon to woofer filter -ve terminal, and one more wire from there to the +ve terminal on the tweeter filter input.

Thanks :) I think i have a handle on what to do now. I'll post an update when i finish.

Also, when wiring the crossover, can i solder the inductors and capacitors directly to eachother, or do i need to use other wire? I assume i can directly wire them, but i just want to make sure i don't fuck anything up.

Yes, they can be soldered directly to each other. And, if you keep the filters separate, it will keep the process simpler and easier to diagnose.

This shows a physical layout. Except you might reverse the polarity on the array.
