Think again. If it's not in the plans there's a reason why, the most common one being that it won't work. And the fundamental frequency is moot. Good thing, as otherwise 99.9% of 5 string players would not be able to play a low B.

Good thing I was going to check with you before I started building:) Would you recommend the T24 underneath if I wanted to hit the fundamental/give the low end a real boost?

That will work fine and likely sound great... as long as you remain cognizant of the caveats of having sub bass on the stage, which will interfere with the front of house. Assuming the front of house is full range with subs then be prepared to make your FOH sound engineer very unhappy if you do! In cases where the FOH is lacking in the low end, you are good to go.

You could also consider a three way Omni 12 Full Range with two BP102's for the "subs" or a single 12". http://billfitzmaurice.net/Omni12.html

Personally, a pair of Jack 10's is all I've ever neded for backline and it sounds fantastic. I have four of them, Beta 10A loaded, and never had a need to use all of them at once. I play a 5" string and no complaints from me about low end authority out of a Jack.

Good to know, I am wanting to go with a rig that is as light weight as possible, so I'll probably just build the DR250, or maybe Jack 10L, and see if I am lacking anything in the low end department.

I recently had a discussion on that with a bass player on a DIY audio forum. Could not convince him that he did not need <40Hz for his 5 string. I should not have bothered :wall:

Sorry for the late reply but I've been on holiday for 2 weeks without much internet access. Glad I could help with the foam though. Maybe we can catch up again sometime compare notes on shuttle vs streamliner (no pun intended) or make a stack of 4 Jacks

cue stack of Jacks photos :)
Built: 2x Jack 112.

A futile exercise.
2xJ12L (3012HO) switchable/melded
2xT30
