Hi From Southern Ontario
I just wanted to introduce myself after creeping the forums for quite some time. I have several BFM builds in mind, an AutoTuba to start with, then I am jumping into the deepend with some DRs for church and finish off with a Jack Lite for my bass rig. I can't wait to get more involved here and lend advice where I can, as I have lots of woodworking experience, I have been mixing live sound since I was 12 (I am 24 now, wow, that is half my life) and I have been playing bass since I was 13.

Welcome lowsound,
I had to reply to your post. I graduated from LDSS in 1970. Lived on a farm near Milverton back then. Good to see Perth County representation here!
Cheers,
Ross
P.S. I have been playing bass for the last 40 of my 60 years

Seriously? Wow, I graduated from LDSS in 2006 and the guy that is helping my build some BFM taught there up until last September, he is at Norwel now. Crazy to "see" someone from around here.old_bassist wrote:Welcome lowsound,

Welcome lowsound!
I'm sure you will enjoy your experience on here. There is strangely deep kudos here that I haven't found in many other places.

Oh man, I work in Wingham and had one crazy drive to work this morning. Good luck digging out, how much did you get? We got just under a foot here and probably the same in Wingham, although Wingham is horrible at loosing g their roads, so it seemed way worse.koturban wrote:Snowed-in in Kincardine, here!

I'd say we got about the same, maybe a little more. Surprisingly, I didn't find it that bad. Highway 21 never closed, as it always seems to with these storms. It would have been different had the wind picked up.iamlowsound wrote:Oh man, I work in Wingham and had one crazy drive to work this morning. Good luck digging out, how much did you get? A friend of mine in Milton complained about her 15 minute drive turning into 50, but we know how TO reacts to a snowflake.

Toronto is horrible when they get snow. As much as I would like to live on the lake, 21 closes so much that I don't think that I would ever be able to make it to workkoturban wrote:I'd say we got about the same, maybe a little more. Re: Hi From Southern Ontario
With long, treeless stretches, and being perpendicular to the prevailing winds from the lake, I believe Hwy 21 is the most-closed road in Ontario.
Fortunately, we have some more sheltered side roads to get to work at the nuke plant. When THEY close, then you know the weather is really crappy.
I don't know if I would want to live in Listowel. It would mean I'd only be 1/2 hr away from Lee Valley in Waterloo!

True about Lee Valley, but my dad also lives in Listowel and he buys a lot of stuff from there, so I just use his stuff. We actually buy a lot of tools together and I use his workshop whenever I want to, as I live in an apartment.koturban wrote:With long, treeless stretches, and being perpendicular to the prevailing winds from the lake, I believe Hwy 21 is the most-closed road in Ontario.

Be honest, you don't actually work at Bruce, you are employed there

Welcome to the forum!
My wife's uncle and aunt used to live in Listowel.
My coworker's husband works/employed at the Bruce until the project is done.

Welcome to the boards and be sure to ask lots of questions about your builds, everyone here is helpful folk!
And "Hi!" from no-Snow Florida
Our roads do close a lot though but mainly due to construction and resurfacing. Constantly, it never ends.

Well, here in Canada we have two seasons, winter and road construction, sometimes they overlap. You can blame be, I am a civil engineer and I deal with road reconstruction a good chunk of the time.Zack Brock wrote:Welcome to the boards and be sure to ask lots of questions about your builds, everyone here is helpful folk!
