This summer I doubled my system to four OT12s (2512's, two with melded, two with straight arrays) and four T39s with 3012's. I use the DEQ and DCX for my processing. This summer I took the cabs out into my large backyard and ran the AutoEQ on the DEQ and grabbed a baseline EQ. I reconstructed that baseline using the PEQs on my XTi1000 I use for my tops then cleared the EQ from the DEQ.
I set the doubled system up for a show a couple of weeks ago and the baseline EQ sounded terrible. I have never had any problem with my original 2 OT12, 2 T39 system.
I'm don't know if it was a bad AutoEQ (it was a windy day so maybe noise on the mic?) or if I messed up recreating the curve on the XTi, but I need to get it sorted out.
Problem is, I'm not going to drag everything out to the backyard in the middle of winter and I have to have it together for shows before it gets warm out. I have a couple of weeks before I need the entire system but can't wait until it gets warm outside.
What would you suggest as the best way to get a new baseline set up that I can use temporarily until I can do it properly this spring?

Re: Baseline EQ for my OT12s
If you saved the old one use it. If you didn't, you should have, for when you only use two tops.
There shouldn't be much difference between two and four cab EQ unless you put the mic too close.

Re: Baseline EQ for my OT12s
Not sure if this will work if you didn't save the settings - on the dbx forums (faqs) is an indoor auto-eq method for the Driverack.
I did it indoors, but it was too reverberant (read: small area) and it sucked out the bass. Then I did it outside of my garage, no wind, 1 speaker. MUCH better.
Just a thought.
Also, wouldn't you be able to reverse the peq on the amp to the geq on the DEQ, and start from there. I've seen that method recommended, then unrecommended.

Re: Baseline EQ for my OT12s
You could try comparing pink noise through a set of ear buds and a portable music player to the system and manually adjust by quickly A/B'ing the two sources. Should get you pretty close for the interim.

Re: Baseline EQ for my OT12s
Thanks all for the replies.
I did save it for that reason. I will try setting up an EQ for the four cabs as laid out by Chris below. I will try that and the old two cab EQ.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote:If you saved the old one use it. If you didn't, you should have, for when you only use two tops.

Re: Baseline EQ for my OT12s
Thanks a lot for this! I set up my baseline using this and it sounds better than when I used the RTA on the original system. I'm still going to try another RTA of the system this summer sometime, but for now it sounds great!Chris_Allen wrote:[eq eqgain=6&eqtype=3&freqs=40:0,63:0&dbtarget=104]OT12D2512M12[/eq]

Re: Baseline EQ for my OT12s
anyone know how the power handling of the OT d2512 loaded will be affected by the db boost down low?jswingchun wrote:Thanks a lot for this! Re: Baseline EQ for my OT12s
Doesn't the DEQ have a 31 channel eq? Not sure if this would make a difference, I just like this new tool! Thanks Chris!
I left the 100 and 125 in, but pulled down everything below that.
[eq width=650&height=450&eqgain=6&eqtype=2&dbtarget=104&freqs=25:-1,31.5:-1,40:-1, 50:-1,63:-1,80:0]OT12D2512M12[/eq]
