Verry Nice. Yes the two way boards are a little large for that particular xover. Erse's other candidate, the HF board, isn't big enough.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Re: SLA's for the home.
Had to go to the eye clinic today. The sawdust was getting the better of me and I could barely open my eyes!
The Mrs. drove me. They did various tests including some drops that shows damage under ultra violet light. I have a scratch 3/8" by 1/16" right across my cornea!! I'll never forget the wife's face when she saw it!!
I remember rubbing my eye when it first happened
idiot.
Anyhow they found a splinter big enough to kill a vampire with and gave me various heinously expensive drops to use. I have to get inspected at the clinic every 2 days until they cant see the scratch!!
So that was a near miss. I'm dealing with 20/24 vision at the moment... I'm used to 20/21. It's kind of a wake up call.
I need to find some proper goggles that don't steam up under use. I have been using Harbor freight safety glasses but they just don't cut it when routing.
Anyhoooooo. Live and learn... I learned.
In other news I'm typing this at my PC with 2x SLA's massaging my ears!!
The second went way faster when my nose wasn't running and my eye feeling like it was about to explode. There is nothing quite like the feeling of an SLA getting heavier and heavier as you load it up with drivers and turn it this way & that to wire it up
I haven't DSP'd them yet. Exerything is bypassed except the cross-over. I just added a little delay to the SLA's to make them sound good at the 90Hz cross-over frequency.
I'll get round to playing with REW but to tell the truth I'm not sure they need any DSP. They sound absolutely awesome!
This is where they are going to stay for a couple of weeks while I learn how they sound.
I'll be sat here for 9 hours tomorrow... I'll know them a bit better by then.
First impressions are "Well worth the effort"!

Whoa. Those were for monitors?

Re: SLA's for the home.
You should use them as cans.

2x T39, 1x T60, 1x THTLP, 1x AT(not built by me) 6x DR250
I need more bass
But this gal's built like a burlap bag full of bobcats

No they are for the living room... I'm just playing with them here first.
I'll miss them when they are gone though!!
Eventually I'll make a couple more and build a bigger sub for a 5.1 system.

Re: SLA's for the home.
Those look fantastic, like realllllllllly nicely done.

4xOT12s, 2xT39s@22", TTLS@18", 2xT60@18"
Re: SLA's for the home.
Thanks for the compliment - makes it even more worth while!
Re: SLA's for the home.
I'm really impressed so far. The only complaint is that I can suddenly tell how bad some of my mp3 collection actually sounds!!
These obviously make great 5.1 speakers. Voices are clear & crisp. Can't wait to build a centre version at some point along with some rears.
They also seem to play very well with the T18... Like they are a good match.... although I can imagine the t18 would be left behind a little watching a loud film with lots of low frequency content.
The biggest surprise is the amount of volume you get for such low voltages.
5v really is breaking the pain barrier in my little office. They came out at 6 Ohms so 4.2 watts hurts my ears!! Quite amazing!
I also reduced the cross-over point to 80Hz, and used a gentler slope I think it sounds better that way.... but I'm still learning. I'm currently running both the T18 and the SLA's on a Butterworth 18dB / octave slope. What do other people run?
Eq wise I haven't done much. I reduced the gain at 160Hz, 250Hz and 6000Hz a little bit. Other than that they seem to be fairly flat.
I can't imagine maxing these out in the home without ear plugs... but as an exercise, how do you go about calculating the max voltage for these?
Individually the 6x woofers are rated at 40w each and the 9x tweeters are 30w each both at 8 ohms. Each cab is 6 ohms.
I wouldn't know where to begin.

Re: SLA's for the home.
I actually have a rescued OLD format T24 for sub duty currently against 3 SLAs for 3.1 and it
does really well.
does really well.
Re: SLA's for the home.
Bravo on the build, those things look great. SLA's are on deck as my next project along with the center channel.
Gotta place my CD order soon!!

Re: SLA's for the home.
Can you show the router bit that you used to cut the holes and the circle jig.
Thanks
Richard

Thanks

This is the router bit: 1/4-Inch Shank Upcut Spiral Router Bit
And I have 2 circle jigs one large & small.
This is the one I used for the SLA's Jasper 400J. It can cut holes from 1- to 7-1/2-inch holes.
and this is for larger holes Jasper 200J. It cuts holes from circles from 2-1/4 to 18-3/16-inches in diameter.
Here is a video of the Jasper 400J in action so you can see how easy it is.
If you search around the site you'll see some people reckon these jigs are flimsy expensive luxuries but IMO they work so well it's worth the price. Sure they are a little fragile but you can't sniff at this attempt after having owned my first router for only 1 week!

Re: SLA's for the home.
Are the crossover components 250 volt capacitors? I wasn't quite sure. Also, I know the plans say 18 ga. or 20 ga. air core induercs are fine, would 18 ga. make any difference?
