Australian Jack Stack
Re: Australian Jack Stack
Wired up and tested both arrays. Nearly there now
While I was at it I put the undercoat on the XF12.

Thanks bassmonster.

Back working on the Jacks recently so I thought I'd post the technique I used to cut the hole for the Jack plate.
Firstly, this is my Jack plate.

Re: Australian Jack Stack
For no other reason than I felt it would give the speaker cable ends a little more protection, I decided to mount to jack plates on the inside of the back panel. This means I need a accurately cut hole or it will just look terrible.
I started by marking out where I wanted the hole and how big it was and then did a rough cut out with a jigsaw.

Re: Australian Jack Stack
I then placed a template/collate guide (sometimes called a "bushing") on my router and 4 straight edge template guides on the back panel and routed the hole.
The only trick here is to place the straight edge templates the same distance from the marked lines as the router bit is from the outside of the collate. In my case it is 6mm.
Note: because the collate wont fit into the corners of the template guides you end up with lovely curved corners.

Re: Australian Jack Stack
I finished off the hole with a round over bit but haven't taken any photos of that yet.
It is also exactly how I routed the holes for the handles. It just took a little longer to make the curved template.

Here's a quick picture of the "fins" I added to the back of the melded array supports to keep the lines clean and prying fingers out as I'm not using a front grill.

Re: Australian Jack Stack
I keep seeing mention of using T-Nuts for driver attachment but the plans do not mention them. Are guys using them on the Jacks "because they can"?

Re: Australian Jack Stack
Depends on the driver. The heavy ceramics tee nuts are best. Neo's, use screws.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.
