Grain lifting on ply face

Save your trip. 100 grit is fine. 60 grit will probably just tear more out.

I prime with an acrylic first, then lightly sand with 220 RO, one pass.

I think 100 is too fine; 40 puts a rough finish on the cab, better for the DuraTex to grab hold of and bond to.

Fair enough - I'd probably go after this suggestion. Bill has far more experience with Duratex than I do (amongst plenty of other things, haha).

At any rate, I'm definitely going to let my new T39 bake in the sun for a few days. We've had 95+ days here for weeks

I am ignoring the grain and will just happily paint and duratex over the top of it as suggested earlier. I was just over-thinking and creating a problem that wasn't really there.

I am happy to report that I duct-tape-jury-rigged my random orbital sander to my dust collector last night and it sucked up almost all of the bondo sanding dust I was making. It was amazing. I didn't even have to sweep the floor when I was done. I'm sure that super fine dust is clogging up the DC's filter bag, but better to clog that than my alveoli.
