Behringer DEQ2496

EQ guys are using on their cabs/systems. A good starting place if you don't have your own RTA.

Behringer DEQ2496

Seems like a sweet unit. So really all you need to EQ a room is this and the ECM8000? No laptop with RTA software anymore. Anyone using one here?

I have 2. I use them every time. The peq, the geq, limiters and compression. I haven't used the rta in a long time. I have a flat curve for the rig I run, I punch it up and tweak to taste.

How about for non-PA use like on a home system? Will it automatically sense non-balanced loads, like fron RCA plugs from home systems?

In a situation where you may have done some cuts, are you able to bring the overall gain back up to a similar SPL before the EQing?

That's pretty simple with it. I don't think it will auto adjust for unbalanced lines. I know lots of ht guys use the DCX2496 xover, which is the companion piece. No reason it wouldn't work in that application.

Yes to all. I think it does auto adjust for unbalanced. It is in the manual IIRC (available for download from the Behringer website).

I just found a review where they guy made some RCA/XLR connectors. (I guess he wasn't near a Rad Shack)

So I guess this thing is great for home and on the road!

Thanks for all the help!

All the Radio Shacks in my area no longer stock items to make your own cables and connectors. If the Radio Shack is still open, all they have become is a glorified cell phone store. What a waste.

Yep, it is a nice piece of kit. See paragraph 5.2 (p.19) in the DEQ manual for description of auto-correct levels when connected to unbalanced equipment (home audio).

I made my own XLR to RCA adapters for using the DEQ at home, cost me just a few € each. Cold and ground wired together to the ring, hot to the tip.

Some people have reported issues due to failing power supplies and DOA units. My first one was DOA, got a replacement and that one hasn't failed me yet.

So are commercially available adapters are not correct, I need to make my own?

What type of XLR mic cord does the Behringer ECM8000 mic need?Is it a male to female? Male to male?

I do not know, as I have never purchased these adapters. If you purchase you can ask the seller how the adapter is wired.

Standard mic cable, male to female.

IIRC, the DEQ does not have a limiter function. The DCX does.
