Getting PL off hands?
Getting PL off hands?
So common sense would tell one to wear rubber gloves to keep their hands completely clean when working with PL but it's not optimal.
I have quite a bit on my hands. Used a pumice stone today to get rid of most of it.
Anyone else have any tips to remove the PL from your hands?

I also tried holding a cold beer in each hand for an hour after finishing for the night. The pumice stone worked better at removing it.

Your problem is you CAN?
I tried damn near everything. Like Bill says, my hands looked like I had frostbite for a week. A box of latex gloves cured that problem.

If you can catch it before it dries, mineral spirits works pretty good on a rag to get off any remaining residue. After it dries the only way to get it off is mechanical separation.

I usually use an orange type heavy duty hand cleaner when I get in from the garage and it takes it off pretty easily.
It's waterless and has grit in it.

Problem there for me is my gloves always tear or rip without me noticing so I end up with glue on my hands anyway. And also on my tools.David Carter wrote:+100! A ounce of prevention...bzb wrote:A box of latex gloves...

Re: Getting PL off hands?
Mine ripped a lot early on, but now that I'm more aware of the problem, I can avoid brushing them against the offending materials--screw tips and drill bits!

Re: Getting PL off hands?
The problem for me with the gloves was that I'd get some PL on my hands and not realize it and then spread it all over the place.
Re: Getting PL off hands?
Funny, but I never had a problem. But then again, if you saw the pics of my "shop"...I just wiped my hands off.

Re: Getting PL off hands?
Gloves were messier to me too. Thin plastic sheets, like the grocery bags we get here in the USA work well to wipe the worst of the glue off hands, also good for wiping excess off the wood joints. The glue will stick to the plastic. Stick your (clean) hand inside the bag, use the outside to wipe off glue keeps it off your hands.

I probably shouldn't say this but unleaded gasoline takes it all right off.
