Omnitop 2-12
Omnitop 2-12
I've been using omnitops for a couple of years now, all kinds of venues, outside, inside, anywhere. I started out with two 1-12's on each side, then built a pair of 2-12's. I still can't get over how clean and clear they are, and LIGHTWEIGHT!!!!! I set up my rig at a club last night where the house guy had been running JBL MRX series, and everyone was impressed. Still working on my second pair of Titan 48, and then my entire rig will be BF.

Good stuff
I can't wait to get my feet wet with mine. From experience, can you comment on the difference in sound quality of singles and doubles/triples?
Also, what sizes audience do you do with 2x single, 2x double and the whole lot?

I've done outside festivals with 2-12 on each side. Sound reaches 300' back or so clearly, not concert level at that distant, but you can hear it just fine. I've done 750 seat churches, rock music, no problem. I've not done more than 2-12 on each side yet. I have enough cabs for 4-12 on each side. There is no different between 2 single 12 cabs on each side and 1 double 12 cab on each side.

Thanks, that sounds promising
. Going to be very happy with mine then (other than being short on subs, that is).

Re: Omnitop 2-12
right now I'm running one 2-12 on each side with two double 18 subs also on each side, and it's a pretty good match. It looks ridiculous, the subs dwarf the tiny 2-12, but the omnitops keep up. As Bill has said, your typical 2-15+horn cab devotes 70% of it's weight to making bass, and the omnitop is a pure mid/hi cab, so it doesn't need all the weight. All the weight in the 2-15+horn typical cab is wasted if you use subs, so why drag it all around.

Have you ever tried the 4 - Otop 12's on each side?

4 omnitops on each side? Not yet, I haven't needed that much since I got them built. I'm looking forward to hearing what they will do. Might be Memorial Day.

4xOT112's is not something I need very often. I've more frequently used on on the bottom with a stack on stage to give me a little more height. I did use 4 per side on my array stands in an ampitheater once and it was still more than I really needed. You could hear it clearly across a large city park. Gotta love the increased HF projection of a larger array.Zack Brock wrote:Have you ever tried the 4 - Otop 12's on each side?
