B-52 US-Series amplifiers?

#1 Post by lemonsjc89 »

I was at an Aaron Watson concert a few weeks ago and noticed they were using XTi's for the tops and a strange looking amp with a blue neon bar across the front for the subs, after looking a little closer I found out they were B-52 US-Series amps. I haven't heard anything about these amps anywhere, on paper they're pretty darn close to the QSC RMX amps, but about $100 cheaper. I think they're a pretty new series of amps, has anyone on the forums heard anything about them?

I think they were actually part of a house system at the venue he was playing at, powering some b-52 tops and 18" direct radiating subs.

I'm pretty seriously considering getting the us-1800 (http://www.guitarcenter.com/B-52-US-180 ... 1448253.gc) to power 2 T48's, especially while guitar center has 15% off this weekend :D

I'm sorry I dont bring a lot of help to your thread, but is GC really having 15% off this weekend? Is this in store only, or separated by region?

I've always considered B-52 a lesser brand, but anything with blue illumination is good by default in my books.

Then there's plenty of good new stuff coming, with several manufacturers introducing new budget series of lightweight amps with blue LED's.

I think it is in store, don't know about the region thing but I'm in OH. I got a coupon in the mail for the 15% off one item and didn't look at the date and went there this weekend.

D'OH.

They also are supposed to have some super secret pricing in store once you get there.

I got the same coupon here in TX, I was reading the fine print and noticed its very specific, it excludes Apple, Bose, ESP, EHV, Fender, Some Gibson Epiphone and Gretsch guitars, Jackson, Martin, Mesa Boogie, PEAVEY, QSC, some Roland/Boss Products, Squier, SWR, and Select Korg, Marshall, Vox.

B-52 and crown aren't on the list tho.

My thoughts on the new lightweight amplifiers is If I had to sacrifice somewhere to get a lower price I wouldn't mind having a heavier amp, that may change when I'm older but while I'm young I don't mind the weight. They do look really cool tho, and thats a pretty important factor :D

I can't wait for the XLS Drivecore amps.
I'm thinking about getting the 2500. With that, I can run stereo and still power 4 subs per side.

Amps this big are basically arc welders with an input.

I've found that even with the 15% off it's still cheaper to look around online.

I've had good experiences with GC when they actually had something I wanted. They'll price match damn near anyone online.

I got them to price match a VCI-100 to an ebay store a couple years ago. It's just a matter of finding stuff that you'd actually want at that store - at least in the Pro Audio department.

Yeah. I've actually succeeded in making GC reps bring down prices to well below the lowest online. All you have to do is find a college rep, get them to tell you everything they know about the product, listen, walk around for the next hour or so, go out to lunch, come back, then tell them you are probably going to hold off.

Got my Dynofog II for 80 dollars, because the rep found a coupon (which was obviously made in paint hahaha)

I've also had good experience with the reps from a knowledge standpoint (shocking, I know). A couple of them know me on a first name basis, and I usually get calls when they are offering sales on products that I'm interested in.

I hope they are having this 15% off thing, but I wish the XLS amps were out.

How recently? Around here, ever since they started that guaranteed lowest price thing they haven't budged below MAP, thrown in cables, anything at all. I started ordering everything from Full Compass after that (unless it was an emergency).

1% THD? I've never looked at power amps before, but for comparison, my Eden integrated amp is spec'd at .01% THD
