For audio and electronic stuff, I have .75mm for fine work, as it doesn't take much heat to flow, and 0.050" for hitting terminals on connectors and such. Never soldered giant electrical stuff - wouldn't trust solder for that kind of work. Doubt you'd find solder anywhere in your house's electrical system. That's what rough electrical connectors are for

My old stuff was 0.8mm.....the new stuff is 1.27mm.
